That's almost what I was going to say 'but but but blue rae is teh suckz and HD-DVD drools, I mean rulez!' People can speculate that BD is never going to hit like DVD but all signs point to a big fat yes it is. Don Resinger, Aaron 'fatass' Greenberg, and any other naysayers might as well pull their heads out of each others butts and give each other a big fat kiss. Maybe then they will all get sick and die

I have noticed in-store Best buy, blockbuster,etc + online retailers bluray stock growing.The funniest thing is these guys makes these comments and then hulk makes some STUPID numbers. These guys get blown UP as fanboys, and in the process lose all credibility(what little is left).

Seriously now, how many units do you guys think DARK KNIGHT is gonna push?!?!?!?!?!? LOL. yeah, bluray is teh dooomzed

We can go on all day with facts....but the sales speak for themselves....the PQ and the 7.1 ROAR for themselves. I dont understand how some choose to ignore the same thing that has happened for 2 generations of sony hardware.........in case some dont remember. Currently, All signs point to sony winning the public over with yet another Storage format.

I remember at the time when HDDVD was still around, M$ offered the add-on and when being interviewed about the purpose, GreenB or whoever it was from M$ said that they are giving what the people wants! now that HDDVD is dead, they totally dump the format and stretch their effort to DD! (although at the same time selling a HDD-less SKU) so, what happen to all those "giving what the people wants" thing?

Hope the fanboys eat it up. As for me, BD is alive and well in my house. I have yet to buy a standard DVD since I bought the PS3. BD just looks too good to settle for upscaling.

Make all the space you want but I'm not going to pay $25-30 bucks per Blu ray movie. I have about 50 Blu titles (550-600 dvd titles) but most came from sales where the price was $15-20, which i have no problem paying. I still buy the heck out of used dvd's because if the title isn't heavy on computer animation or effects, then why not get 4 movies for $20? Seriously thirty bucks for a movie. ANyway glad they're expanding because I shop there a lot.

Like I told people before, if blu ray was "dead", why would all the major studios be rushing to put their older shows and movies on Blu ray discs?

Why does Blu Ray have 11% market share (and climbing)?

If digital download was the "new thing", why do they only have .5% market share?

Why is DD market share so low when ps3, 360, and PC all contribute to digital downloads?

Why is the conversion from DVD to Blu ray moving faster than the conversion from VHS to DVD?

Those are things you have to ask yourself if "people don't want blu ray" like Aaron Greenburg likes to keep telling people. Target is one of the bigger retail chains in the U.S. Do you think they'd be EXPANDING their selection if blu ray was a dying format?

Now that the HD awareness is rising, most retailers will keep expanding their HD/Bluray sections.

Bluray WILL be the standard HD format.

Exactly meep.... and believe it or not, there a lot of people who doesn't understand the whole deal about HD...

Most are owning HDTV's, but most of those are clueless about everything else such as digital cables to transmit, HD cable boxes, Bluray players... etc.

Awareness is rising, but many people are still ignorant about the big picture. As soon as people gets it like they did with DVD, the Bluray train will be non-stop.

so basically this is a story about store space in july...no one find that weird that theres a story about it...since its october theres no idea how those sales have been since july at these target stores...that would be a better story.

Is this the July part you're talking about?:

And Snuka, remember when you and I argued that blu ray players would start to hit that sub $200 mark? Well, "BDP-S300 for $229" and "Insignia-branded Blu-ray player to $249". So yeah, that sub 200 mark is coming real soon

This story is mainly about Target now selling Olevia BD-110. It than further discusses that is being sold exclusively at Target with a Target spokes person explaining the decision.

"Additionally, Target is now selling three Blu-ray set-tops in stores, including the October bow of the Olevia BD-110. Aggressively priced between $229 and $250 at several Target stores, the Profile 1.1 player is not Web-enabled but handles picture-in-picture interactivity. It is being offered at Target exclusively."

So in short if you are too lazy to read this article I will sum it up as a former journalist myself.

Target is expanding their Blu-ray merchandise.

1st this article is mainly talking about the Olevia BD-110. That JUST came out. Here is a simple detailed summary of the main points of the article since you obviously need some help here.

2nd paragraph. Target reconfigured several of their stores in July.

3rd paragraph. Target is NOW selling Olevia BD-110 Blu-ray players which is being sold currently exclusively at Target.

4th paragraph. Olevia BD-110 is currently being sold at a cheaper price than Bests Buy exclusive Blu-ray Player the MVBD2510.

6th paragraph. Sony’s BDP-S300 has replaced with Sony’s $299 BD Live-ready BDP-S350 at Target stores.

7th paragraph. A Target spokesperson explaining their decision.

8th paragraph. Some Target have installed a 2nd Blu-ray demonstration area. Also now they have placed demo stations in their software aisle.

So your statement "basically this is a story about store space in july" is wrong. Their is only 1 paragraph mentioning and even discussing about their store space in july.

Also your statement "all these changes have allready passed kid" is also incorrect. Not ALL have theses changes have passed. The Olevia BD-110 has just been introduced to Target and that is why this article mainly talk about it hence why the article was just created.

You really shouldn't call other people idiots when you failed to understand a 8 paragraph news story that is basically summarized in its title. Let me say it again this story is about Target expanding their Blu-ray merchandise.

The PS3 is for everyone in the family. The movie fans, the hardcore gamers and offcourse the casuals now with RC and LBP!!. Sony should advertise the PS3 as the family purchase this season as its the only console that offers something for everyone in the family.

was looking to licence Bluray but started balking at the royalty fees that SONY was asking for. Whereas HD-DVD was a more open format. That's great when you make niche products for a specific market. Bluray however was designed for mainstream appeal.

But it won't overtake DVD either. Not as long as HDTV's, Blu-Ray players, and Blu-Ray movies are more expensive than SDTV's, DVD players, and DVD movies.

Till HD adoption spreads to the mainstream, Blu-Ray will be a niche product for us PS3 owners and the audio/video philes.

Blu-Ray = Betamax??? No
Blu-Ray outsells DVD??? No
Blu-Ray better than DVD??? Hell Yes

If you get an HD tv there is no better way of using it then blu ray. Using dvd on a hd tv is like driving a race car in first gear.Right now Tv companys only give us compressed 720p . plus over the network you lose even more signal .

I am sick of everyone crying about how there should be no blu ray. What should we use with our tvs then? dvd? no thanks.
