About six months ago, veteran AAA gaming studio Bungie launched Destiny 2, a sequel to its space opera shooter-RPG Destiny which promised to take the series to bold new heights as it left the previous console generation behind.
Time and time again Bungie has said it’s listening before promising to do better, and yet even now Destiny 2 languishes in a swamp of mediocrity which it likely won’t emerge from for several months at the earliest (if ever). So what exactly went wrong with Destiny 2 and, more importantly, how can Bungie fix it?

PlayStation has scaled back expectations for Bungie after reassessing Destiny 2 development costs, highlighting the risks tied to live-service games.
Honestly Thank Goodness!! Yet another good sign of a possibility of returning to what made them great and undoing Jim Tyans trend chasing love service gamble. Still gotta wait and see just what direction they're going but this is a good sign in my book that they're not betting it all on live service anymore
It may take a while but maybe they are finally learning. Good! Now stop with the live service crap.
They say this and then immediately release news of the Horizons co-op game that will definitely be a Live Service game.

Patch notes for Update 9.5.0.5, the one about Equilibrium fixes and more, are now available.

A new survey shows Destiny 2 is considering adding Sparrow Racing League, unvaulted campaigns, NPC sidekicks, new PvP and Gambit modes, and much more.
Can Bungie be saved?
When Bungie moves on to make a new IP, their “from the creators of Destiny” moniker will carry a lot less weight than “from the creators of Halo” did
Any constant world game can be addressed.
See the division.
But then I have to be honest and the number one fault of d2 is any sense of passion in the project.
No massive mystery like the vault of glass from the onset of destiny that gave players an urge to discover, no amazing exotics across the bored to give player tons of options for their load-outs, an economy that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, and a pvp that favors a potato internet and welcomes cheaters and is dominated by tryhards.
Saying all of that, d2 can be fixed... but unfortunately, it will have to be free to do so and not hidden behind expansions to get a huge player base back.
They are trying to focus on pvp to bring back the streamers etc that have left.., but to even them, pve must become great or there is no reason to grind for meta weapons to use in pvp.
Sucks. Bungie still have the magic, they just were not ready for the responsibility for their vision of a constant world game.
The context of this game has to be redone. It has such incredible concepts, and yet it was thrown to wolves. This games soul was lost.
They need to release a new raid, at least 4 new strikes, the story of the new expansion needs to be at least 8hrs long and the new exotics need to be well "exotic". the balance updates they are releasing are well enough but the story and the content here is key.
the division made a comeback because they listened to the fanbase and took their time to address the issues before releasing any new content which is the route they should take from now on.
Not by Bungie.
Just look at their roadmap for the fixes to the game. It took them 3 months just to figure out a system to eliminate duplicate exotic drops. Just imagine how long it will take them to fix the actual problems players have with the game.
