I love Doom. Both the old and new versions, but the latest game has been surrounded by only positive discussion. I wanted to take a more critical approach and ask how and where it failed.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."

Today, Koei Tecmo announced its financial results for the full fiscal year 2025, related to the period between April 2025 and March 2026.
My one issue were the secrets. They worked really well in the original Doom, as the game was replayable, run and gun perfection.
Levels didn't take ages to complete, and it wasn't a chore to replay one to try and find everything.
Doom 2016... The levels are huge, mazelike, and as the writer said, pretty generic looking. I hated spending over an hour in each level trying to find all the secrets, that were also tied to upgrading your loadouts and skills.
It stopped the game flowing well, despite how fun it could be.
Yes god forbid we just simply enjoy a good product.
After playing a game like Vermintide 2 - it makes me wonder what ID is doing because i'm slaughtering HUNDREDS of Rats/Zombies at once and it feels freaking amazing with all the blood and gore.
I personally hate the aiming in this game. Like why can't I be accurate and get precision shots. With the shotgun, you can't really aim to the head and score and instant kill because the enemies move so fast and so do you. It's more a shoot til they die type of game as opposed to a tactical game. I'm not expecting a simulation type of game, but I would like to be able to shoot exactly where I want and to be able to do limb damage.
The multiplayer was also pretty bad. I miss Doom 3, that game is in my top 10 of all time.
I really didn't enjoy doom 2016, I thought it was a chore to get through, I played it through just to finish it and then traded it. Was hoping they would of made it more like doom 3 now that had atmosphere and tension with a pretty good story. But thats just my opinion.
