Twinfinite writes "Mistakes fixed through tireless effort post-launch is one thing, but merely “building a solid foundation” doesn’t constitute a video game experience worth paying $60 for."

Frances 'Fracas' Addison: "Season 17 has begun! And some unfamiliar faces have been spied on remote islands as The Smugglers’ League settle in and begin their hunt for high-value, dangerous prizes. They’re open to letting pirate crews help them transport their cargo where it needs to go, and maybe recovering some choice items misplaced along the way. Their true goal, however, remains rather mysterious… but for now, let’s find out what you can expect from this new Season in Sea of Thieves!"

2025 marks the 40th ‘Ruby’ Anniversary of that bold endeavour, and Rare’s inviting everyone to join the celebration of this impressive milestone, offering free gifts, discounts and plenty of swag to claim in their shared-world pirate adventure, Sea of Thieves.
It's a shame it seems pretty Sea of Thieves centric
I was hoping for some cool Banjo / Conker merch or maybe a re-release of Rare Relay with some added games, possibly work something out with Nintendo so they can add Goldeneye to it with online support.

Sea of Thieves, the pirate-themed game from Rare, has reportedly surpassed one million copies sold on the PS5 per a new report.
Yea, we’ll be seeing plenty more Xbox exclusives head to PlayStation..
Makes sense. The game sold 5 million copies on Steam and had 30 million players in 2022. So it does have a hook; what it needed to sell on PS was essentially just to be available there.
Honestly less than I would've expected based on the buzz around release, but still a great milestone.
I can't even begin to comprehend how this happened. It's not like this is an early-mid generation blunder.
This is pretty much 5 years in. After Halo: Master Chief Collection... After Fable Legends... After Scalebound.
Talk about mismanagement. It's like Phil Spencer and Shannon Loftis visited Rare multiple times over the past couple of years and just let them muck about taking 2 years to make a ship... or didn't even care about the game as a consumer product. Jebus christ, this brand deserves the negativity it attracts. It's not even like Microsoft has a big barrel of exclusive games or a crazy number of studios to manage.
Phil on Twitter a couple of months before the game ships, with a thumbs up for poor quality and barely any content: https://twitter.com/XboxP3/...
It was never acceptable.
Unfinished, buggy, Internet connection required, huge patches at launch who's files are larger than full games, dlc locked on disc, content withheld and sold as dlc at a later date, loot boxes, micro transactions at the level of doa (is it even a fighting game anymore?),platinum-gold-super- alpha-turbo editions of games with ridiculous prices all wrapped up in a "have to install the whole disc on the drive to play wasting space and having to buy even larger hdds to keep up"....is not my idea of FUN.
Needed to vent all that against all systems. But companies need to make complete games. It's why I no longer pre-order games. I wait to see the results and preview video reviews without spoiling too much before buying anything. Learned this thing called *value* years ago. If companies don't put value in their games, then, they don't deserve my money. Period. No matter the company.
It's definitely not acceptable for $60. This is an early access game that was sold as a full experience. Terrible really...
Wholeheartedly agree. I know this may be a trite thing to say, but man - I miss the ol’ days...
