Sony made and sold product primarily meant to entertain. Generate profit as a result.

MS attempted to sell concepts primarily meant to generate profit. Considered that product was required eventually.
(Maybe they have. Maybe.)

UCForce2980d ago

And MS ignore the competition. I was very disappointed.

UCForce2980d ago

it’s just seem like MS just want to their brand into service.

Lets see not having to focus on following trends which is what Microsoft did with Halo, Gears of War 4 is just another rehash of the first 2 games, and Forza is the same yearly release and is the same game over and over again. Crackdown 3 is irrelevant because it's not even finished and has become vaporware. The Xbox brand has no luster for first party games because they don't do anything with them. Conker is dead, Banjo Kazooie dead, Perfect Dark Dead, Jet Force Gemini dead, Blink the time cat dead, Lost Odyssey unused, Fable is dead, and yet Xbox gets another Halo Wars RTS no one wants. So what that Xbox One X has more powerful hardware when the system isn't doing much as it is. PS4 has the games Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, Uncharted Lost Legacy, Ratchet & Clank, Until Dawn, Horizon Zero Dawn, Wipeout Omega Collection, Dreams, Days Gone, The Last of Us II, Concrete Genie, Shadow of The Colossus Remake, InFamous Second Son, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, God of War IV, Gran Turismo Sport, Gravity Rush 2, The InPatient, Firewall Zero Hour, Knack,Knack 2, The Last Guardian, MLB The Show '14,'15,'16,'1 7 & '18,Driveclub, Detroit Become Human, Tearaway Unfolded, Littlebig Planet 3,Death Stranding and of course there are other titles like The Last of Us, God of War 3, Journey Collectors edition, Medieval and even Gravity Rush Remastered in this list of Sony developed, and co-developed games. As for third party games that have become sellers and won't be on Xbox there's Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2,Hokuto Ga Gotoku,Tales of Berseria, Ni-Oh, NieR:Automata, Persona 5, Street Fighter V, King of Fighters XIV, Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, Blazblue Central Fiction, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT,Gundam Versus, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Eyes of Heaven, God Eater 2 Rage Burst, God Eater 3, Ni No Kuni II Revenant Kingdom, Shenmue III, Left Alive, Raiden V, Dragon's Crown Pro, Granblue Fantasy Project Re:Link,Lost Soul Aside, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Odin Sphere Liefthrasir, 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim, and so many other games to mention that it would take a while to list all the other exceptionally amazing games. I know some Xbox fans will say "But we have the more powerful hardware with the Xbox One X" I say "Good for you" because frankly in case people forget the PS2 was the weakest of the 3 consoles during the 6th generation of gaming, and yet despite being weaker in hardware in considerable contrast to the OG Xbox it still manages to be the highest selling console of all time at 155 Million units. If people will use the argument that having stronger hardware is the most important thing, just remember the average consumer doesn't care about what system is more powerful. Instead in their mind they'll generally go by word and mouth. Because of that it's obvious that's why the PS4 outsold the Xbox One because of bad PR at the early part of this generation and it was $100 more. Lets go back 12 years ago when the PS3 launched, sure it was a system considerably more powerful than Xbox 360, but it was $599 at launch. Most gamers were like "Ah hell no i'm gonna get an Xbox 360" why because the system was cheaper to get and had a bigger library of games. Sony's biggest mistake was being super arrogant and thinking it's ok the PS2 sold 150 Million systems so the PS3 will do the same at $600

The Wood2980d ago (Edited 2980d ago )

Basically. . Games focus, better deals, better perception, better ethos, better track record

Omnislashver362980d ago (Edited 2980d ago )

It's not even just the average consumer caring about which one is technically more powerful, there's even more to it.

-PS4 released at $100 less and had 33% more power than Xbox One
-Xbox One X released at $100 more and had 33% more power than PS4 Pro.

But Xbox One X becomes essentially even more useless when nobody takes advantage of it. PS4 Pro WILL get support from world class devs. And games like The Last of Us II, Spiderman, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, Detroit, Horizon, and Final Fantasy VII Remake look leagues better because they have developers who can fully utilize the system. Sure, I'd want that extra 33% more power, but Sony games will end up looking better regardless. Furthermore, most people are gaming on the base hardware where PS4 is 33% better.

So it doesn't matter how you spin it. MS has been full of shit this entire time. If they'd create studios or fund projects they had instead of cancelling them, perhaps they'd have some better looking 1st or 2nd party games, but they don't. They essentially created a $500 brick if you want to play exclusives aside from Halo and Gears of War.

And by time they even get close to maxing out Xbox One X for one of their 3 main exclusive games, PS5 will be here, twice as powerful with the most skilled devs on the planet. Twice the power with that skill is gonna look even greater than anything Xbox could imagine.

I'm looking at Final Fantasy VII Remake for instance, the game already looks nex-gen. But imagine this gets delayed to be a cross-gen launch title on PS4/PS5 when the new system releases. 3x the detail? 4x the resolution? 5x the power as PS4?

Xbox Two is essentially dead on arrival if that happens because PS5 will have THE killer app out of the gate nex-gen, and worst part about it? Even if Xbox Two ends up being slightly more powerful, not a single damn game on their console's entire lifespan will touch a launch title like that on Sony's system. It's the biggest slap in the face. People will be like "where's the power PS5's games look better" from day 1. Imagine the same thing happening nex-gen where you have to pay an extra $100 on Xbox Two but have worst looking exclusives. What kind of slap in the face is that?

ImportGamer30042980d ago

If Microsoft and the Xbox brand want to survive then start creating new studios, hiring new game developers and allowing them 100% creative freedom like Sony does. That's why Scalebound was cancelled, because PlatinumGames had a way they wanted the game developed and Microsoft kept telling them how to develop their game saying "Develop it this way". I'd be thinking really Microsoft you're gonna tell me how to develop my game when you're publishing it. Back off and let me develop my game.

Godmars2902980d ago

Doubt Sony give "100%" freedom to their 1st party devs. Just seems like it.

Then again, No Man's Sky was a thing. They really needed some oversight with that one.

UCForce2979d ago

Well, Sony allow their devs do whatever they want. No Man Sky is Third Party game.

Father__Merrin2980d ago

I think I'm done with Microsoft now. I've had 2 Xbox one's with one of them I bought an S last year was fun collecting BC games and rare replay was mint, but always end up letting it go

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio26d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing26d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9226d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit26d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing26d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9226d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
