Is the guy even breathing?? Damn he's speaking soooo damn fast, everything feels like a single word :S I can't watch this without feeling breathless ahahaha.

InKnight7s3003d ago

I hold my breathing because you are described it. :) What's going on?

Babadook73002d ago (Edited 3002d ago )

So acumulatively Witcher 3 sold best on PS4. PC was second best. No surprise.

Imalwaysright3002d ago

Babadook7 It didn't. It sold best on PC.

Gamist2dot03002d ago (Edited 3002d ago )

Teleprompter or there's a guy holding signs for him to read. And I'm sure he wants to get it over with..or he needs to pee really bad.

moegooner883003d ago

I expected the game to sell better on PS4, but wasn't expecting this ridiculous percentage gap.

Software_Lover3003d ago

PS4 has (atleast) double the install base remember? Considering analytical information it should hold a 200% edge (when calculating percentages) in all multi platform game sales over the Xbox One. If Xbox sells 100, Playstation should sell 200. It doesn't always work out like this but you get the point.

In this case, 2015-2016-2017, the percentage differences were 233%-300%-240%.

Nyxus3003d ago

But there are also other factors to consider. For example, The Witcher 2 was released for 360, but not for PS3. This was the first Witcher game to release on a PlayStation console, in fact.

_-EDMIX-_"PC should be outselling the PlayStation 4 version by a significant amount. " it does did we look at the same chart ???

_-EDMIX-_3003d ago

@one- did we read and understand the post? ????

"by a significant amount"

P_Bomb3003d ago

Doesn’t work that way. Double install base doesn’t automatically double every game’s sales. We don’t all have the same taste, same friends, buying the same games at the same time for the same price.

If install could do that, PC software would quintuple everything. But they don’t http://www.playstationlifes...

ZeroX98763002d ago

@ONESHOTV2
considering:
About 50% of the total sales was from 2015
23% ish in 2016 and 25% ish in 2017.
PS4 sold more in 2015 and close second in 2016, so either the game overall sold more on PS4 than PC or it's a really close gap between the 2.
It's with charts like this that makes any article about "PC Gaming is dying" just pure nonsense. Release a good product and people will buy it!

Shooters and racing games are king on Xbox, so no surprises that Witcher wasn't a priority for Xbox Fans.

TheCommentator3002d ago

@ Nyxus

There are other other factors to consider, like the fact that so many people who owned a 360 jumped ship and bought PS4 this generation, or that people who own both consoles bought it on PS4... but it doesn't really make that much of a difference anyways because Software Lover is right about install base being the biggest factor.

To those who disagree with Software Lover it's simple: Twice as many customers, twice the opportunity for a sale. It's called a ratio, and it's something kids learn about in grade school. Are you guys going to say that cooking for twice as many people doesn't require twice as much food too? Or that twice the asphalt builds twice the road? Ratios are grade-school level concepts and to ignore them is nothing short of insane.

Awesome and we'll deserved. Such fantasic games especially Witcher 3.

darthv723003d ago

Agreed, it is a fantastic game no matter the platform. All the sales it earned, it deserved. I'd love to see a full witcher trilogy for consoles.

SoulWarrior3003d ago

And to think, none of the previous Witcher games are available on a Playstation platform, and it still sold that much on PS4.

Matrix63003d ago

I'd imagine the franchise would easily sell even more if the first 2 games were ported/remastered on the current gen consoles.

_-EDMIX-_3003d ago

Completely agreed you're also talking about an install base of Gamers that cares more about this type of content

Weeblordbad3002d ago

I think it's an install base that buys more games, it's a bit weird to say they care more about this type of content when it's a open world rpg. That and the PS4 ate so much of the Xbox's market that you'd be delusional to think a large portion of the PS4 install base wasn't 360 owners especially in 2015.

But you know, keep that pinky pointy skyward. You're truly more cultured when you own a PlayStation.

darthv723003d ago

A witcher trilogy would make a fine addition to consoles. I've played 2 and 3 but I'd love a crack at the first.

_-EDMIX-_3003d ago

I actually prefer the first Witcher game above 2 and 3. The story is very good but the main focus is the side quest it's really an incredible game. If you could get past some of the bugs it is a very very rewarding RPG. Trust me it's worth some of the hustle to get it to work right on PC

Hardiman3002d ago

I'd be down with that! I played Witcher 2 on 360 and Wild Hunt on PS4 but never got to the original but if they did that I would scoop it up immediately!

Weeblordbad3002d ago

It's kinda weird how much you think that matters, a lot of PS4 owners are people who would have owned a 360 the previous generation.

No one's getting a port of the first Witcher, that's a PC ass game. But its also 10+ years old it runs on anything, try that.

alright, remake the witcher 3 already. no one wants it, no one needs it, but peeps are getting way too wet talking about this game. so go on. pay for it again, so your itch will be scratched. jeez.

Omnisonne3003d ago

The game is hardly 3 years old, and got several graphical updates..
Does it bother you that much when people show their appreciation for something?

InKnight7s3003d ago

he used to COD the same game same everything just different skins for every year.

The actor who portrayed Zoltan Chivay in The Witcher series of games has died

Alexander Morton, the Scottish actor probably best known for starring in British comedy drama Monarch of the Glen - but known to me for being the hilariously foul-mouthed dwarf Zoltan Chivay in The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3 - has died aged 81.

Fishy Fingers81d ago (Edited 81d ago )

3x less sales than Playstation.
3x less consoles sold than Playstation.

Per captita, it averages out that the same number of users are buying CDP games regardless of platform, no?

Bathyj81d ago

The exact same or possibly more because a series S, initial investment and effort to Port to Xbox consoles for a third of the return.

Simply not worth it

LMGk81d ago

“ Simply not worth it”

And yet, basically every game comes to Xbox.

NotoriousWhiz81d ago (Edited 81d ago )

A third is a pretty big number to be honest. Like would you rather make 15 million or 20 million? That's the difference that a third makes.

GamingSinceForever82d ago

Hey it’s ok. They are really impressed with XBOx’s new CEO so exclusivity is on the way. 😂

Loktai81d ago

Ok but I mean be logical ... modern PC, Switch, PS4 PS5 then you have XBOX, of all of those XBOX is probably only 10 percent... I mean, what do you expect? 10 percent increase in sales is still nothing to sneeze at, remember - this is CD projekt red and they sell a lot of software. 10 percent of their sales is probably what most studios DREAM of selling .... just playing devils advocate..... its easy to say LOL haha XBOX.... but.. I mean we know what it is at this point. I havent bought on since my xbox one X and before that I only used other peoples xboxes since the OG XBOX and stick with PC and Playstation and switch OLED, but .. I mean.... theres nothing WRONG with an xbox considering its just not the best - but they work fine. make no mistake.

The Witcher 4, 5, and 6 Will Be Released Over a 6-Year Period

CD Projekt RED confirms The Witcher 4, 5, and 6 will be released over a 6-year period, promising shorter development cycles ahead.

thesoftware730192d ago

Unless these games are bite-sized, it's a disaster waiting to happen or a major over-promise. Based on the tech demo they showed off, to get anything near that fidelity, and assuming the world is larger, no way they're cranking out 3 games in 6 years, unless they have some super AI doing a ton of work.

VenomUK191d ago (Edited 191d ago )

This sounds like a good move to me; CD PROJEKT Red make the game engine once and craft the world and the full story, then for each of the next two chapters they spend two years on making the adventure. I wish Bethesda had done this with Skyrim so we had new adventures.

Remember, GTA III was released in 2001 with its sequel GTA: Vice City just one year later in 2002. And GTA: San Andreas in 2004. Same engine but tweaked for all the games and they are all time classics.

thesoftware730191d ago

Venom, I get that, but the world of game development has changed dramatically since GTA3 and SA...these games will be extremely similar to each other, short, or downgraded quality.

But maybe CD PROJEKT Red has the secret sauce...we will see.

Michiel1989191d ago

mods literally solve all of that, thats why skyrim sold so well for god knows how many years. You can choose to add content, change the combat up completely, get a bunch of new spells, visually change whatever parts of the world you like you name it. Especially some of the overhauls I really enjoyed

thorstein191d ago

All this company does is lie.

I think their CEO might be a compulsive liar. The last interview I read of him he claimed they popularized/ created "Dark Fantasy" ignoring all super popular "Dark Fantasy" games already out.

LucasRuinedChildhood191d ago (Edited 191d ago )

Depends. Technically, they could spend many years on The Witcher 4, upgrading everything and polishing a new gameplay system with the story all planned out with the tools to create new content all set up.

Then release The Witcher 5 three years later. Then release Witcher 6 three years later. They would be iterative sequels.

It would be a 6 year release schedule from the perspective of a player but could be 11+ years of development. Unreal Engine 5 does also make games easier to make even if it has issues.

But even if 6 years is possible, they're probably just saying nice stuff for investors. The Witcher 3 sold for so long that sequels releasing close to each other might need even make them more money.

Tapani191d ago

They could also finish The Witcher 4, and dedicate a polish/finalizing team for the last 12 months to it, while gaining an extra year towards the 5th game, and do the same for the 6th.

Michiel1989191d ago

well they've probably set this up for a bunch of years. I would be surprised if by the time 4 releases they wouldn't already be mostly done with 5 and done a bunch of the legwork for 6 if they manage to pull this of. I'm extremely skeptical and also think they can't even be close to as large and content rich as w3.

OMGitzThatGuy192d ago

They’re just yappin to appease investors when they will be delayed a minimum of a year and half easily or will be alot smaller and reusing assets.

Rebel_Scum191d ago

Reusing assets is hardly a thing to complain about.

OMGitzThatGuy191d ago

If 3 games in a 6 year period feels the same then it would be a problem.

Profchaos191d ago

There's only one studio that really gets away with this and that's RGG but it's because their stories are so good their fans don't mind exploring the Same places over and over

Can cdpr do that I doubt it

jznrpg191d ago (Edited 191d ago )

It’s easy to say that but something is going to give unless they build up their studio to several massive teams and even then delays are likely. Either that or quality/size will be lesser.

Name Last Name191d ago

I assume this means they will build the world once and then just add story and minimal changes in the next two games.

ZycoFox191d ago

They might have a tool to help shape landscapes and areas faster, or with AI help included.

Shorter development time doesn't always mean less changes.

Games during the 64 days were made in 2-3 years tops, and look at Mario Kart World.. that was made in 8 years and while it has a decent track selection the open mode is basically a giant desert lacking content..

Long development time doesn't always mean lots of content.

franwex191d ago (Edited 191d ago )

Will in be like a Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom? Not necessarily a bad thing if done right.
