In a delightful fan pleasing dose of E3 hype, Nintendo dropped the big one and announced Metroid Prime 4 last year. That unmistakable font was enough to wet the appetite of even the most sceptical of early Switch adopters.
However, even though the surprise reveal created a frenzy of anticipation, it contained no further information and was followed by swift radio silence. Despite no gameplay being shown, the prospect of recording to our logbooks and blasting Ridley on the go was (and still is) very exciting. But what exactly IS this game going to be? Do they stick with the formula? Or is this a Breath of the Wild style reinvention?

Tanabe has reportedly confirmed that Metroid Prime 4 was his last Nintendo title.

Issue # 419 of Edge Magazine has been released, and it features reviews for games including Metroid Prime 4, Black Ops 7 & more.

No one demanded a Metroid Prime 4. What people wanted was a fresh new Metroid that was exciting. Kind of also wish the remaster that went to 3 DS came to switch
I demanded a sequel to Metroid Fusion than Metroid Prime 3.
The eponymous Metroid Prime already died in Corruption, so it really doesn’t make sense to continue that subseries other than for branding reasons.
Continuing the storyline after Fusion is long overdue and would prove for a very interesting story. It can be done in 3D, but the chronology of the plot needs to move forward at some point.
I think you will get a fair few console gamers who haven't played a Metroid game since Prime 2 on the Gamecube (due to avoiding the Wii and Wii U), so I can see why Nintendo have opted for this.
I cannot wait to see it. But, will have to wait until June at least.
The only switch game announced thus far that I'm actually excited for.
