You don't need an advanced guide for this game. Sometimes, when I land on the map, I go straight for a boxing match with someone, who doesn't realize that they are about to become a victim. Next, I hunt around for some gear. Sometimes I get the shaft with not being able to find good gear, and other times, when I'm the first player to find a weapon, other players get the shaft, and do they ever...
The other thing that I find myself doing, is babysitting people in my squad. The play area will start to close in, and my squad, or at least one person in my squad will be totally oblivious, and I keep having to say, "hey, lets get the F* outta here, the play area is closing in on us". This happens all the time, and it leads to having a tactical disadvantage unfortunately.
Lastly, it's super important to shoot your gun, and make sure that you're aiming at the target. There's nothing worse, than shooting your gun, but you're not hitting anything. That can be a real problem. Then what you do is try to win a chicken dinner, and that's it!
