The Castlevania Game That Changed Everything

Symphony of the Night took the best elements of the Castlevania series, injected in RPG elements, and created one of the most compelling games for the original Playstation. A platform-adventure action role-playing game, it was developed by Konami and released in 1997 for the original PlayStation.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night made sure that Metroidvania-style games became a part of gaming culture, reminding a 3D hungry industry that great 2D games still had a place. Every beat of the game exudes with polish, gorgeous graphics, and intuitive gameplay.

This game really impacted the industry in insurmountable ways

I highly recommend that everyone go out and play Castlevania Lecarde Chronicles 2. It's a fanmade PC game that came out May 2017 and is incredible. It has amazing game play, solid story in it's world, great enemies, bosses, puzzles and level design. It was blessed off by Konami and even features voice actors from SOTN. Best Castlevania game in over a decade. Konami should really buy this and add it to it's collection (like how MegaMan fangame became IX).

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

That's a pretty fucking great list

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
