Unity Engine can achieve animated feature quality visuals, rendered in real-time

DSOGaming writes: "In January 2017, we informed you about an amazing first-person interactive story that will showcase the capabilities of Unity 2018 for powering high-end visuals for game productions. While this game is not out yet, Yibing Jiang shared another video showing what game developers and artist can achieve with it."

That's some great "animation". Here I was thinking it was merely a frozen portrait with a slightly rotating camera or something.

subtenko2897d ago

and? its nothing new that hasnt been done before beside the fact the only thing animated is the camera moving and the leaves on trees/shadows...

Has anyone noticed graphics have improved a lot in tech demos. But when it comes to physics and stuff, it's been pretty much the same since they had Havok in Half Life 2.

Would be nice if we could alter landscape, have realistic flowing water that can flood areas, fire spread etc.. I know games can already have those but AFAIK it's scripted.

I feel the same as you do. Thankfully, there's physics advancements being worked upon too. IMO, next gen needs to have a more physics-based layout like you describe.

SO MUCH THIS! one of the things that got me hyped for the PS4/XB1 was the prospect of insane physics and destruction that they can now put into games. instead all the devs are more worried about how things LOOK rather than how things REACT, such wasted potential

Miacosa2896d ago

Without motion it reminds me of the early PS3 - XBOX360 demos that would use 100% of the console's horsepower to render a life like bust and sell it as if a whole game could be made with that level of fidelity.

I hope that's something that can be toggled in user settings. 9 times out of 10, I'd go for a higher frame rate if it meant dynamically dropping the resolution for a bit, but every once in a while, I want that extra fidelity for taking screenshots.

What happened to true 4k 60fps uncompromised??

VINNIEPAZ2976d ago

What happened to your diaper? Sounds like the baby needs a fresh one.

itsmebryan2976d ago

Something not able to achieve with the Pro. Enjoy your soupy textures.

UnHoly_One2976d ago

Well since nobody from Microsoft ever said every game was going to be 4k, and also never said anything about 60fps, I'd say nothing "happened" to it.

It's still floating around up in your fanboy brain where it belongs.

This same old flaming BS cell.

Congrats on pushing your silly fanboy war m8. Oh and talk about roasted by vinnie lmfao.

Frame rate is king,

Witcher 3 with HDR/higher frame rate is so smooth.

I hate double dipping on games but the X is a solid system.
4k doesn't really matter to me like HDR and 60fps

So this is a upscale program/engine?
Not true 4k?
I rather systems focus on 60fps so upscale games doesn't bother me.

So if this helps with the X being able to run games at 60fps then I'm all for it.
