I’m just as disappointed in the underwhelming Capcom newcomers to the series as I am with the lack of X-Men and Fanstastic Four characters. Other than Jedah, Mega Man X & Monster Hunter every other Capcom and Marvel character was pretty much expected.

I’m extremely disappointed how Winter Soldier & Black Widow made it in over any fan favorite MvC2 veterans.

Whatever they do with this game moving forward won’t get me really excited because it seems like a large part of this series’ identity got axed for business decisions. Stuff like the art, wtf character additions, & some music was what endeared me to the series and now it’s being treated as an afterthought even if a second version of this game with all DLC included were to come out

The Marvel side was pretty much to promote the MCU more. The Capcom side? No idea. Stories of how bad development of the game was on top of too much control from Marvel, and less than a year of development on the game. Yeah, not surprised that the game was underwhelming.

It’s clear the Marvel side was made to appeal to the MCU crowd, but that really betrays longtime fans of this 20+ year franchise. In a fighting game especially people become accustomed to characters and their movesets which will keep them invested in coming back to the series. Axing various longtime characters in an installment in any fighting game series is always bad news. Just look at Street Fighter 3 & Soul Calibur V as clear examples. Appealing to the casual crowd that won’t be as dedicated is a bad move, so what you’d be left with is an even smaller amount of buying audience which is why this game sold so poorly.

On the Capcom side of things idk they even felt compelled to rush this game in such a beloved series. As soon as the Marvel license was available again in May 2016, Capcom hurried as fast as they could to put this new installment on store shelves.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 had a 3 year development cycle. Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite has half the amount of development time and it shows. Not to mention the budget was most likely even lower. In comparison the new upcoming Spider-Man game wasn’t rushed to coincide with the movie and it’ll be a better project for it.

You’d think that after Street Fighter X Tekken and Street Fighter V underperformed in sales that Capcom would want to put their best foot forward and remind people why they were regarded as kings of the fighting genre, but instead they put in the least amount of effort in making and rushing MvC:I out the door.

I'm just having fun with this game. It's not perfect, but the gameplay is killer. I'm happy with the roster but looking forward to see who's next. Fingers crossed Cyclops does happen. I miss playing as him and keep hearing his name mentioned in the leaks (and the leaks have been right up until now!)
