Quiet release, no one will notice or care.

Sales will be very minimal.

Third-party support will slowly decrease.

The switch can’t handle doom at low settings 720p /30 so I’m interested to see how well it can handle this...

michellelynn09763054d ago

Actually it can. There is gonna be a patch to help the resolution.

_-EDMIX-_3054d ago

The switch can handle that based on Doom, but will it sell?

I mean, Doom basically failed miserably. Neither Doom nor Skyrim on Switch even charted on NPD's top 20

Movefasta19933054d ago

Actually it can’t and there’s evidence

Movefasta19933054d ago

No it can’t handle it ,if sub hd + sub 30fps at very low pc settings is what you’d call ‘handling it’ then fine it can

Juat like Skyrim, Doom, LA Noire, Ultra SF, and DBX2 didn't sell. Oh wait? They did.

2pacalypsenow3054d ago

Have they released official sales numbers for the Switch versions? I'm curious.

Dark_Knightmare23054d ago

Dude skyrim, doom and la noire didn't sell what are you talking about? Sf sold because it was one of only a few games near launch. Dbx2 is the only one that genuinely did sell well

_-EDMIX-_3054d ago

"Juat like Skyrim, Doom, LA Noire,"

They didn't.....

Sales data those those game failed BIG TIME! All 3 didn't even chart NPD or UK's charts in terms of top 20.

People have been waiting for a drop or slow down all year long. Suck it up, it's only getting more and more popular and with that comes support from third parties.

I don't get why people would want a major console to perform terribly or decline. It's just childish.

michellelynn09763054d ago

Thank you for saying that. I want the ps4 to succeed, but I also want the xbox and Switch to succeed.

kevnb3054d ago

I can’t remember a console that folks on Internet forums were more wrong about.

michellelynn09763054d ago (Edited 3054d ago )

Yeah they did. Doom went up. Sodid Skyrim. Word of mouth helped them.

Dark_Knightmare23054d ago

You should actually read the articles you're going to link lol because the one you did provide shows that doom sold like crap

_-EDMIX-_3054d ago

That link also shows Doom sold 3,500.....sooooo yea. That game failed bud

michellelynn09763054d ago (Edited 3054d ago )

Why does third party games selling on the Switch bothers you, I have no idea. Enjoy your games and let others enjoy theirs. I know this is hard for some Sony fans, but there should be competition and it is good for games.

Prince_TFK3054d ago

Skyrim and Doom sold well. It remained on the Switch top 10 chart for a long time.

_-EDMIX-_3054d ago

I mean...basically. That is what we are seeing for titles like this. I'd say 3rd party support will decrease for games like this, but I think Japanese support will be solid like DS, 3DS etc.

so I don't think 3500 sales of Doom was something they were expecting, but they were forewarned about that market long ago. You will see them learn their lesson JUST like EA, Ubisoft, Acitivsion etc. They'll start getting in line and putting out more family friendly, Nintendo type games pretty soon, as I don't think they can deal with games selling THAT low.

They don't have EA or Ubisoft money to do that, even those publishers didn't have money to do that crap.

SpitTake3054d ago

You're citing literally one market, the UK market, which has never fine favorable to Nintendo based products.

_-EDMIX-_3054d ago (Edited 3054d ago )

@spit-be that as it may, this didn't chart on the top 20 NPD for the United States either.

I don't think it has anything to do with markets at the end of the day 3000 units is not something any company is going to be proud of.

It's sold poorly on both markets.

And the NPD sales are actually talking about our regarding the switch itself individually it did not chart on the top 20 for all titles sold.

With sales that extremely low don't be surprised if this is some of the last content you see by this publisher, expect to see them release different type of games more family-friendly oriented to fit Nintendo's audience because it's very clear stuff like Doom or Skyrim are not selling well to this audience not well enough to justify a port anyway.

@Sega- "Bethesda has said they are happy with sales on Switch" Link?

I don't recall Bethesda saying anything about the recent sales of Doom or Skyrim regarding Switch.

If you look at the links. They sold better as the weeks went on @EDMIX

OpenGL3054d ago

Honestly I will not be shocked if the results are worse than in DOOM. My experience with the PC version of this game was that it was generally more demanding than DOOM as the environments were more complex. Also seemed like there was more going on in terms of physics.

like bethesda would leave a chance to port a game...

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio13h ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing11h ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9211h ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit11h ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing11h ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster929h ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
