I bought the switch 1 Mario odyssey bundle when it came out. Good thing Nintendo didn't charge for the switch 2 upgrade.

Donkey Kong is an average game. Mario Kart is now neutered and watered down. I'm hoping Metroid is at least above average.
Donkey Kong had so much more than they showed in the direct. Not to spoil anything but considering people were assuming there'd be like 4 or 5 "worlds" in total, many were shocked to find out just how far the game keeps going.
I'm having a blast with the game myself, but to each their own. MK is a solid entry in the series, is it the best? Debatable. But it's not like it's a bad game at all.
I feel your assessment. The destruction & playability in DK is phenomenal. MK has a ton to unluch and some dope tracks. It's something about both that didn't punch in areas where it needed the most.
i wouldnt compare these games at all.
but, having played both, Odyssey is the better game.
My top fifteen in no particular order are HZD, Nioh, Nier, Persona 5, Tales of Berseria, Zelda, Mario Odyssey, Assassins Creed Origins, Wolfenstein 2, Hellblade, RE7, Gravity Rush 2, What Remains of Edith Finch, Prey and Shadow of War.
Horizon Zero Dawn and Mario Oddysey are my top picks for the year. After them it's GT Sport, lost legacy And crash bandicoot.
Shout out for little nightmares and Nier automata too!
