See, even Sony recognizes that the Switch is a competitor for their console.
It's a hybrid playing to both markets. That's one of the Switch's strengths.
When even the higherups of Playstation are saying the Switch is a machine competing for the same consumers, it's time for the "B-B-But it's just a handheld and that's why it's doing so good!" naysayers to step back and re-evaluate.

I said this back when Dragon Quest Heroes 1 & 2 was announced for the Switch. I also said it when Octo Path Traveler, No More Heroes and Shin Megami Tensei V was announced. Im glad nintendo is seeing success with their handheld. While many fanboys scream that its a home console first, many cant disagree how its representation to the big screen looks very dated (1 of its biggest drawbacks). The switch has impressed me with the support and sales its gotten since march but really i still feel its too overpriced for what youre getting. To be a console 4 years after the weaker xb1 from 2013 the switch should have had no issues being just as powerful at 299. Even at 349 it would have been the sweet spot to play *most* games at the same fidelity... Instead we are getting games that run noticeably weaker. I get it graphics arent everything but when it stops heavy hitting AAA 3rd partys from comming to the platorm its a big problem (kindom hearts 3, ff7r, ff15, dark souls 3, rdr2, destiny 2, overwatch, cod, bf, or any other game pushing the boundaries graphically for that matter). What about the rumor of between good and evil 2 possibly being switch exclusive? Not gonna happen

How many more times it's not all about the tech it's how it's utilised. Nintendo are geniuses with game design that shows with sales. Some of the best games ever are on 8 and 16 bit tech, with less than 64k !!

The jury is still out on the Switch yes it has sold better than the WiiU but there are a lot of games that will never make to the system, IMO the Switch and PS4 aren't in direct competition I view the Switch more like a portable as do many other people a lot of the games coming to the Switch are Indies which is fine many big AAA a games won't be on the Switch until I see that trend change I don't think Sony has anything to be worried about.

That may not be what the headline's about, but it's the most significant part of the story itself. You heard it from the horse's mouth. Expect to be pressured to leave your wallets open and have money flow out of them continuously. A bit too EA-sounding for comfort.

As far as I'm concerned, there's room for both. They both offer their own great IPs and are delivering on the exclusives well enough.

The handheld capabilities of the Switch just make it that bit different from home consoles.

The fact that the arrogant (and yes they are arrogant) Sony acknowledges and sees the Ns as a threat. Makes sense considering that over the last 2 weeks in Japan switch sales boosted 5:1 in comparison to ps4 and no Japan doesn't celebrate black Friday or Xmas or Hanukkah or whatever holiday you do. These are raw sales.
Just in case if you wanna accuse me for being a fan boy. I got lo switch yey. Also even though I like it I still think Nintendo blew it in the long run for not increasing more power to the tablet.

Obviously Sony shouldn't ignore Nintendo. They're smart enough not to do so. I do think the two have fairly complimentary systems right now though. Sure, there's a lot of overlap in their markets, but they have different selling points that I don't think either company needs to chase one another on.

The Switch is a nice concept though it's doing well in sales I don't think Sony has a thing to worry about this generation.The Switch has it's fan base & so does the PS4.

Sure they can, this novelty console will fizzle out quickly just like the Wii. Nintendo has no outside software support, and it kills them every time.

The Switch is great but underpowered, soooo.... There is nothing to say Sony cannot make a hardcore (core - see what i did there) gaming system that has split functionality as well but with current gen processing power on the small screen on the go processor is graphically down on the smaller screen and when in the dock its a console equivalent Next gen machine. They have the means to do it, the Vita was a beastly little thing when released, they just need support, mainly from themselves. I couldn't believe how quick they dropped their own machine from their software lineups.

Reading this as an owner of the PS4PRO and Xbox One S I don't know if its just me or is it sad that Sony is more concerned about the Switch than the Xbox One X?? Sony don't acknowledge the Xbox One X at all and maybe its because the Switch has been picking up steam and Sony sees the console/handheld war heating up between them and Nintendo.

Good thing I'm not Sony then, because I'm sure as hell going to ignore it.

Just re-release the PS Vita as the PSP 2 with good marketing and a cheap TV dock. There. Done.

Wuchang is great. Nine Sols didn’t have a physical copy so I never played it but I’ve heard good things so I will check it out. I stopped playing sports games many years ago when before the card dlc’s or whatever they’re called.
