Why doesn't the PS4 have backwards compatibility? This article looks at this topic.

The gaming world mourns Shutaro Iida, the visionary director of Bloodstained and Castlevania. He passed away on Feb 10 after a battle with cancer.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is coming, but the wait could be long. If you miss Symphony of the Night-style progression, here are the best modern games like Castlevania to play right now.
A new PS4 vs PS5 comparison highlights Kingdom Come Deliverance’s free next gen update with improved visuals, 60 FPS support, and faster load times.
The 60 fps for me is the huge difference. The sharper visuals is nice but the smooth framerate is the big upgrade imo.
Their trailer at the State of Play looked very underwhelming and did a very poor job conveying how big the difference was between the old version and the upgraded version. Only after watching some proper comparison videos was it made clear what a big difference it is.
Great to see a modern classic getting the love & respect iit deserves from the devs in the form of a free update. Major kudos.
No reason PS4 shouldn’t be able to play PS1 games. That’s a tradition every PlayStation platform has had up to that point, even the PlayStation Phone.
Should be able to move the PS1 classics they put on the store to the PS4. I paid for a lot of them and now I can't even access them because they refuse to put them back on the store...don't give me this "licensing" bullshit because they've already done it so they should have known people would want to re download them when making the switch to the PS4.
It's ridiculous. I mean people in the UK waited years for Spyro the Dragon trilogy yet it was released the last year and a bit before the PS4 launched.
The library should have been growing...not every gen starting from scratch. This is why an all digital future just won't work.
No PS1 and 2 backwards compatibility- Playstation Now
No PS3 backwards compatibility- Cell Processor is very hard to emulate
So, basically, it would be too expensive of an emulator. I'm certain this excuse is so they can continue to promote PS Now. How is this a valid path for long time fans?
I would love to be able to put a PS1 disk in and be able to play, but I suppose this will never happen. Guess when I want to play a classic I'll continue to hook up the original Playstation until Raspberry Pi 4 hits and I'll have every previous gen system I need in one convenient spot.
Claims the PS4 is more than capable of emulating PS3 but it would be too expensive to make an emulator, yet doesn't explain how he knows this.
Claims you can play PS2 games on PS Now which is not true. PS Now has mainly PS3 games and some PS4 games.

Claims PS Now is a backwards compatibility service, it isn't backwards compatibility at all. You cannot play old games you own for free using PS Now.
Finishes of the article by saying "And there you have it; a brekdown of just how the backwards compatibility for PS4 works and how you can use it." PS4 does not have backwards compatibility at all, there is no way to play old games you own on the PS4 for free.
This article sounds more like an advert for PS Now and not a good one.
