Very mediocre game dragged down by the lame motion controls that no one wanted. Hard to understand why Nintendo continues to push motion controls in gaming when the vast majority of gamers don't want them. Look no further than Star Fox Zero for proof that these types of controls just don't work well at all.

deafdani3094d ago (Edited 3094d ago )

Arms has also traditional controls available.

Arms' metacritic score is 77. That's not mediocre.

And Starfox Zero's motion controls were absolutely fine. The problem was the simultaneous 2 screen gameplay, which has nothing to do with the motion controls.

Star Fox Zero's motion controls work just as well as Splatoon's and Splatoon 2's... which are, in fact, proof that motion controls work great when implemented properly. Hop on a online match in Splatoon using traditional controls, and you will be at a clear disadvantage.

Same goes for ARMS, motion controls is the superior scheme for that game.

Aren't you tired of being wrong all the time?

77 is pretty mediocre. If you got a 77 on a school test, would you call that a good grade? That's a C. Well, I guess if you're retarded you would. I wouldn't. I'd call that mediocre.

Utter mediocre game. Laughable that it was a full price release when it looks and feels like something you'd get for £12 on Steam

UKRsoldja3093d ago (Edited 3093d ago )

12 pounds is being generous.

lellkay3093d ago (Edited 3093d ago )

haha! honestly though, personally I feel like its got enough to it to warrant a £20-25 price tag. Same sort of price tag as say, Crash Nsane, Ratchet and Clank, Super Luckys Tale, Knack 2 etc.

But being priced as a full price AAA game + "Nintendo Tax" on top, is hillarious. Only Nintendo fans can try and defend that and make out ARMS to be a legitimate contender among the great crop of games in 2017.

Nintendo finally explains what free upgrades do for Switch games on Switch 2

All 12 games are getting different upgrades. Some get full visual and frame rate enhancements, while others get GameShare support only.

darthv72365d ago

hmm... those improvements for the zelda games is kinda weak. I was expecting improved frame rate, or at the very least more stable. Sad there is nothing for Paper Mario, that one could use a 60fps mode like the original GC version.

ocelot07365d ago

Both Zelda games both run at 1440p and 60fps now. On the switch they both play at 30fps.

--Onilink--365d ago

The main issue will be if they don’t remove the double buffer vsync in them.

Yes, they are technically already 60fps capped, but that vsync setup means even a single dropped frame below 60 sends it to 30fps.

Now if they are also increasing the resolution and visuals in the game, unless there is a pretty significant overhead, which is still likely but not fully understood due to the unknowns of the “emulation” setup, if the 1% lows in the game still drop it every now and then anywhere below 60, they will still end up having massive stuttering drops from 60 to 30fps.

The two Zeldas - EoW and LA - already run with a 60fps cap. I would hope they're not mentioning improved frame rate because it's just assumed that the Switch 2 will smooth out the drops.

Whereas the specific callouts for Bowser's Fury and Pokémon indicate a raise from 30fps to 60fps.

jznrpg365d ago

Disappointing. Not many games with not much in upgrades.

Tacoboto365d ago

So... They're not gonna do anything with that Xenoblade Chronicles X 60fps mode, huh?

CDbiggen365d ago (Edited 365d ago )

12 is a bit weak. The whole switch library is in need of a boost. Exclusives like the Xenoblades and Astral Chain would be great to see get a free update. Initially surprised Mario Wonder wasn't on the list, but I imagine they have a paid upgrade planned for that one.
