could have just said Why I Don't Trust EA

And the article's image should be battlefront 2 / Mass Effect

People will have to watch themselves with this. EA will be preparing like mad now for any future release and since this is an "online open world game with co-op elements" you know that's a game ripe for MTs and other shady deals to make money. I can honestly picture it like Destiny, Wildlands or The Division where it's lacking but you are supposed to get the most from it by constantly grinding with friends doing the same things over and over.

Since EA will not want to stop their money grabbing plans they will work their ass off coming up with the best PR team from when this game is revealed more at events like E3 to when it releases. The interviews, the articles, the well crafted videos which make you believe one thing only for launch to show you what it's really like...it's coming and it's going to come in full force. They'll be completely prepared and the sad thing is I know a lot of people on here alone can be "won" over by a well crafted trailer.

they have been doing PR and consumer failures for over the past 5 years, I don't think they have learned anything so far lol

Seraphim3117d ago

that's one of my biggest concerns. If they don't learn from Bungie. These games are releasing a vanilla game saying this is enough content for $60. Then it's paid DLC and annual Updates. I can't even say they're expansions because of how little they offer. Destiny has the potential yet their model and Bungie themselves prevent it from truly ever shining. Granted it's still a solid game and I play the crap out of it but due to the vanilla model it lasts limited time then.

Same as Wildlands and The Division. I sunk a ton of hours into them but once I was done with collecting and the campaign there was nothing left. Destiny is definitely built better in the fact it comes with a Raid, Strikes, PVP where as Wildlands and The Division are more single player, co-op, campaign games. Though The Division did have the Dark Zone that had extremely limited appeal and entertainment.

I don't expect anything less than a vanilla game with DLC and MTs but I am hopeful. I am hopeful they learn from Bungie and others. Hopeful they actually release a solid base game with enough end game content. These games try to be like a MMO to some extent yet they continuously fail to deliver on the content required to engage players for more than a few week to maybe just over a month. Depending on severity of MTs I can overlook and ignore them. However having a vanilla game that doesn't keep me engaged. I refuse to continue supporting this model. You want to use GaaS then at least provide a robust game out the gate with enough content and end game activities to keep me and my friends engaged.

Not to defend Destiny, but in that game the things you spend money are ENTIRELY cosmetic and I seriously could care less, I have more emotes, ships, sparrows and Shaders that I could actually ever use or need and never spent a $. An entirely different situation with EA and their 2000 hours of grind to get everything and 10 hours just for a character

Parasyte3117d ago

The difference with Destiny is the micro transactions in it are purely cosmetic and have no real effect on the gameplay.

There is good reason to not trust them. Still excited for the game though

Mikelarry3117d ago

Meh from day one it was just a destiny clone, saw the money destiny was making and decided to get on the loot while it was hot.

Seeing how they did starwars you can expect worse with something they created where they have creative control on what they can charge for

Parasyte3117d ago

How is it a Destiny clone since you haven’t played he game?

Rachel_Alucard3117d ago

The E3 demo literally looks like an attempt at targeting that audience. Where did you not see this? What logic is this where you have to play the game to just see that?

Parasyte3116d ago

@Rachel_Alucard
You do know Anthem has been in development since after ME3, right? It was literally being developed at the same time as Destiny 1. Destiny just had the fortune of releasing earlier.

Rachel_Alucard3114d ago

@Parasyte

Still looks like the same kind of game regardless

Parasyte3114d ago

@Rachel_Alucard
Well, yeah. It is an open world RPG with looting and dungeon crawling elements. What else did you expect?

Could Anthem live on? Tech allowing local server hosting existed, former executive producer says

BioWare's multiplayer shooter Anthem was terminated this week because EA no longer wanted to maintain servers for people to play the game on, and without them, no one can play the game. But the former executive producer of Anthem has revealed that BioWare had technology working, close to the game's release, that would enable us to host our own servers to play the game on.

EA/Bioware should allow us to host our own servers to let this game live on.

I'd be fine just playing it as a localhost and dumb as rocks AI bots. Just give me the choice.

Anthem Players Report Download Errors A Week Before Shutdown

BioWare and EA had previously said the game would be accessible to those who owned it until it shuts down on January 12.

anast144d ago

Never buy online games unless there is some kind of refund policy.

Only days remain before EA will switch off the servers to BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game

Time flies (like a Javelin suit): there are only 10 days left to play BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game Anthem before the servers are switched off, presumably forever.

In my opinion, Anthem was a good IP that was worthy of a no man's sky or cyberpunk 2077 treatment.

To this day, their sub reddit is active and I was able to get into a game quickly a few weeks ago when I booted it up.

It is a shame EA and Bioware didn't want to give the game the overhaul it needed to turn it into a competent looter shooter.

GamerRN147d ago

They were close to releasing the overhauled version and then EA cancelled it

TheGamersDojo145d ago

I wholeheartedly agree. If ANY game deserved to get the rework/relaunch it deserved it was this one. More than literally any other. Even over FFXIV, No Mans Sky etc.

SlothLordPootus148d ago

I just finished this up a couple days ago. Although it's a bit repetitive and the story is meh, the game feels great to play. Even if you can only hop on the game for a couple hours before it shuts down, I think it's worth it.

chicken_in_the_corn147d ago

Really enjoyed this. Shame to see it go.

Software_Lover147d ago

I didnt know servers were still up. I could have been playing!!!

2nd comment attempt (1st doesn’t appear & this may register as duplicate):

They can spend billions to buy or get bought but they can’t spend a fraction of that to fix or overhaul a game that could have been truly special, smh.
