DOOM Arrives For Nintendo Switch

Bethesda has released their launch day press release and trailer for DOOM on the Nintendo Switch. Despite not having all the features of the PC and prior console versions, this has been an eagerly awaited arrival for Nintendo Switch owners.

"Despite not having many features of the PC and prior console versions"

say what? This game has all the DLC, Arcade Mode and Multiplayer. It is exactly the same as the other versions, just with some paired down visuals.

Garethvk3118d ago

It does not have the map creator for one.

Neonridr3118d ago

ok, and how many people use the map creator outside of PC users?

Garethvk3118d ago (Edited 3118d ago )

Many, hence my point, does not have all the features of earlier releases to go with the watered down graphics and framerates.

You can take it and play it outside the house on the go.

Makes me wonder why this doesn't come to Nvidia Shield devices. Same hardware (if not much faster) in a lot of their products.

If the hardware could only do 720p though those with Shield TV's on 4K displays might be disappointed. Oh well, good show of form and optimization. Downgrades were certainly had but nothing TOO dramatic considering the Switch's hardware and portability.

Why would I want this ON my shield? I have it on my PC in another room and stream it in 4K to my Shield in the main room and up onto my TV and play it with a controller. I love the Shield TV. One of the greatest gaming devices ever and streaming in your home or from Nvidia is a breeze. Gamestream exists for a reason. So you do not run anything directly on the Shield.

That said I am sure Switch gamers will enjoy the game just fine.

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil380d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

After watching Scavengers Reign? The answer is unequivocally yes. I really want something out of left field but I think people are too afraid to shake things up.

It's what I love about Shadowrun and Black Mirror. Love, Death, and Robots proved that there's an audience for stuff that doesn't fit the mold.

Weird games in general we don't get enough of, we need more games like Katamari and Mr domino, things like that
