Zelda, Odyssey, Splatoon 2, and Mario Kart (because I missed it last time) have made the system 110% worth the investment, for me. Granted, I only JUST got Odyssey, but I already love it. If they can just spit out 3-4 first party titles a year, I’ll be a happy switcher.

If Xenoblade 2 is as good as the first one it'd be an incredible way to round out the year. Here's hoping it's more of Chronicles and less of "X", or that it's the best parts of both games.

Said it before here, but I don't see how Xenoblade 2 could ever be on the level of BOTW or Odyysey. The first Chronicles game wasn't even a 10/10, and "2" is showing a list of problems the first didn't have. Such as the weird artstyle direction.

And simply from a conceptual standpoint, JRPG's are inherently less accessible to the average consumer than something like Mario or Zelda.

You forgot to add they get a free pass cus it's Mario and Nintendo. It's nothing to do with the fact that the game is bursting with creativity and charm and fun and immaculately made.

I don't mean to be that guy, but to me Mario is a huge snooze fest. I tried playing Galaxy 2 and was bored of it within 2 hours of playing. These games just pose no challenge to me and to me that takes the fun out of it. I agree that in no way do visuals or graphics represent the amount of fun a game is. It just has to have some sort of obstacle or challenge to keep me wanting to come back. Just like with BotW. I breezed through that entire game and haven't played it since. To me that proves Nintendo doesn't understand fun. They understand how to make a game that's easy and has content, but to me that isn't all it takes for a game to be fun, let alone great.

It's a joy to play. Even indie games like rocket league and stardew valley that I already played I look excited and forward to have them on my switch and will sink tons of hours into my bed.

Breath of the wild has DLC this holiday as well. But Mario is going to be king

cemu won't work for this because it's based on wiiu and they are very 2 different hardwares. but reverse engineering of the switch is quickly underway so we may hear news of switch emulation in like 2~3 years.

Smurf, I was thinking the same thing. There was zero ways I was going to take a chance on being forced to wait until March or April to play this Haley's Comet edition of Mario. I'd say in another week to two weeks the hype will be so loud parents will be stripping shelves for top-wanted presents to put under the ol' neon-laced pine tree.

Pretty much. I'm sure games like Persona 5 and Horizon Zero Dawn and Nier: Automata will get GOTY awards from a few gaming sites, but the majority of the GOTYs will go to either Zelda BOTW or Mario Odyssey.

right now its number 5 on amazon best seller for 2017.......psn cards take up spot 1, 2, and 3,.......4 is mario kart, 5 is mario odyssey 6 is zelda.....7 is Nintendo Switch system.........so if it can mario kart spot then its in good hands

Yes mostly from PS fanboys. They have this complex when one of Sony's games isn't considered the best and it isn't exclusive to Nintendo games. When Overwatch won GOTY at the game awards over Uncharted 4 the downplaying and shitting on the game began immediately (and it was just ONE of the many GOTY awards that are given each year) but I don't want you to believe that. Oh yes I took offense on how stupid that kind of reasoning is. You expect me to believe that editors from websites or magazines from several countries went to some sort of secret meeting to decide on how well some nintendo games are reviewed? Even if that was possible what would they stood to gain from it? Is Nintendo paying them? Do they get money from Nintendo's game sales? There must be a reason for this consorted effort for some (not all) Nintendo games getting these reviews so what is that reason? Can your "faith" tell you this so that your story can at least be somewhat believable?

Oh and yes there is fanboy bias at play here and mostly comes from people that are biased themselves and should look in the mirror 1st before accusing others from being biased especially when the only proof they have is the one they shit from their own asses.

The game looks great and 720-900 600fps is fine for the hybrid Switch. 900p/1080p 30fps us the norm on current gen consoles.

By that logic no game on a handheld console was ever worth a 10 because home consoles were capable of much better. Actually, by that same logic I could say that no Xbox or PS4 games are worth a 10 in 2017 because a high end gaming PC trumps what they're capable of by miles. You have to take into consideration the capabilities and strengths of the hardware. I'm glad graphics aren't all that important to me, otherwise I'd never be able to enjoy indie games. The obsession with visuals is already ruining the industry. Why do you think we see the corporate policies we do today, the microtransactions and shutting down of studios? Games are getting too risky and expensive to make because most consumers just want it to look pretty, and more impressive year by year. It's not sustainable.

Because:

1. Graphics aren't the ONLY thing that matters when you make a review. Gameplay matters, too. If graphics was all there was to make or break a game, The Order: 1886 would be Game of the Generation.

2. There's this thing called context. Reasonable people know that the Switch is a portable machine, and as such, isn't as powerful as the Xbox One, PS4 and PC, so reasonable people don't expect the Switch to output games at the same level of graphical fidelity. For the machine it's running on, Super Mario Odyssey has amazing graphics because it has a superb art direction and is probably one of the best looking Switch games. Expecting PS4 graphics from a portable is absurd.

You should try to be a reasonable person sometime to understand what context is. It's fun.

Sure, Xbox One, PS4 and PC have much better graphics on their games... but you can't play those on the go natively.

Yeah, but Gears sucks (love Halo though), and Mario and Zelda don't. Most game developers look up to and got into the industry because of Nintendo designers/programmers/etc.

I didn't know that Halo and Gears completly change their gameplay, art style, textures, timezones and mechanics in each entry like Zelda and Mario do.

Also many people actually do have it in their hands and it's out in certain regions of the world. You change the region of your Switch and you can download it from another eShop and be playing it as soon as it finishes. People did that this morning and they've been playing for hours. It was also leaked around a week ago and there's people who got it before today.

Well I had played the game, and let me tell you it deserves all the praise that it is getting and more.
