why didnt just transfer wii/ wii u virtual console to the switch

Yes absolutely. The fact that this isn't even here to begin with makes no sense to me. The Switch would benefit even more from this.

I bet it's a back-up plan, for if popularity starts to dwindle or there's gaps in the release schedule.

I sometimes get a little mad when a company or celebrity doesn't produce something I want or that I'm expecting. Then I remember that they don't owe us anything. They can literally do whatever they want. I'm sure some would argue in this case that you can just buy the NES and SNES Classic Editions, even modify them to hold more games, if you want the classic games that badly. Nintendo doesn't owe us shit.

What else can they offer? I'm listening...

After the past two consoles having their own Eshops, yes, I think it's pretty much expected of them.
Even more-so if we include the DS and 3DS, since the Switch is a hybrid that covers both bases.

The question is, what are they going to put into it to make it worthwhile?
My bet's on Gamecube games, since the recent patch made Gamecube controllers compatible with the Switch.
I'm hoping it'll extend to stuff like Tales of Symphonia, though; what I wouldn't give to have a way of playing that again outside of getting it for PS3... Having it on the go would be a treat. I sank SO MANY HOURS into that title.

But if I'm really stretching the limit of possibilities, then maybe some of the DS and 3DS games?
The right Joycon has a pointer that could function as a make-shift stylus, so I don't think it would be impossible to implement.
Kid Icarus Uprising would be phenominal on Switch, honestly, though I'd take a sequel instead in a wing-beat.XD

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
