A recent Switch update surprisingly added compatibility for the Gamecube Controller adapter. Why is this 15-year old controller so popular?

A rare first-party Nintendo games sale has just gone live on Amazon with around a dozen of the company's titles discounted.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.

"It’s been debated many times that Microsoft was inspired by the GC controller design for the Xbox controller, which evolved into the 360 controllers and now the Xbox One controller."

The GameCube's prototype controller was first shown off at Spaceworld 2000, a time a which Xbox had already been in development. In fact the GameCube controller was shown off at August of 2000 while the Xbox controller was shown off at March of 2000, which further discredits your comment.

The only time the Xbox controller took something directly from a Nintendo controller was when the cross shaped D-Pad was put onto the Xbox One controller after Nintendo's patent on that design expired.
Simple; it's not
So nintendo going to resell all of their old tech again? Inspired by Sony's move stick?
