How does this one compare to other musou games?

ZeekQuattro3127d ago (Edited 3127d ago )

Lets see. I played Mystic Heroes, Kens Rage 1 & 2, DW Gundam 1 to Reborn, Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper, DQ Heroes 1 and Hyrule Warriors. The story is the same as every other musou crossover game where a calamity or some other event cause characters from multiple universes or eras to interact with one other so don't expect to be wowed. Its nice that some key events from the different FE games do get reenactments but with slight changes obviously due to the roster. I like being able to command units or switch to them on the fly if one of my AI partners is struggling. You can also pair up units which opens up more specials and regular combos. You can still switch between the two paired unit as well. Paired units can affinity for each other quicker but everyone participating on a particular map also gain trust more so if you help them in some way.

For the most part it combat plays like any other musou game but weapon types weaknesses changes it up a bit. In the early stages it doesn't seem like a big deal but as I get further in the game I find myself using tactics more and more over just mowing everyone down with one character. Pegasus Knights and archers still don't mix and I have been situations where I didn't notice an archer and it didn't go over well. Kens Rage 2 and Hyrule Warriors are still my favorite musou games but Fire Emblem Warriors isn't too far behind them. I'm still early in the game so thats a good sign.

I still own Fire Emblem POF and RD. Those entries are uber pricey now. I wish they would bring back the transforming units from those games. Radiant Dawn was pretty hard too but at least you could save before each turn. Saved me the trouble of having to redo many a map due to unlucky enemy crits. lol

Thracia 776, Heroes and Warriors are all awful. I ignore them when discussing Fire Emblem altogether

Top 5:
1. Awakening
2. Three Houses
3. Blazing Blade
4. Sacred Stones
5. Path of Radiance.

I've played most of the others, but they didn't really hook me.

Stay away from Shadows of Valencia and the DS remakes.

I really like Shadows of Valencia.
