I knew it from the start. It's funny how they're not talented enough to make their own games, so they pay everyone else for exclusivity and DLC.

I didn't see where in the article that Eidos stated that Microsoft paid for DLC. Maybe I missed it?

Of course Microsoft paid for it because Microsoft is the king of 3rd party spending.

Of all games to buy DLC for, I think that Tomb Raider Underworld was really a waste it because I really think that Tomb Raider Underworld will fly under the radar this Fall for all systems including the Xbox 360.

The only reason why I think Microsoft went after Tomb Raider Underworld DLC is because Tomb Raider was a game franchise that started on the Playstation consoles. Uncharted Drakes Fortune is a better action/adventure game than Tomb Raider in my opinion anyways, and that game is only on the PS3.

I think the fact Microsoft paid for DLC and a demo exclusive for a game like Tomb Raider is pretty worrying. I'm not sure if it's because of the name, but it's a weird choice and it makes me think "out of touch".

In the late 90s, Tomb Raider was a HUGE franchise, but it hasn't been a relevent game since about 1999 and certainly not in the new millenium. Exclusive content then would have been a major deal, now it's just a complete mystery.

Tomb Raider? What are they really hoping to achieve? How much money did they waste on that?

I view exclusive DLC (for PS3, 360, both included) as an entirely negative thing.

There absolutely no benefit to gamers WHATSOEVER. Think about it. The game engine is already built, so you can't argue quality by excluding platforms. It simply means some gamers miss out.

Mirrors edge DLC shouldn't be PS3 exclusive either. It's just stupid.

not that APB isnt an important title. you cant fault the developer for wanting to move on to something bigger or newer, look at zipper and other companies. but crackdown was such a huge success, not only financially but i think its fair to say that microsoft gamers hold crackdown dearly as a 360 exclusive franchise that they want for years to come for themselves and would like it to get the attention microsoft has giving to dlc.. with the money for dlc for gta4 tomb raider and battle formations for last remnant publishing crackdown or even developing in house would have been a slam dunk in sales.

i've ranted about square enix and others buying into microsfot bullcrap and this is an example.. once microsoft gets what they want or use you to hurt their competition they drop you or back stab you. just like they do on the pc software side of their business.

LOL i dont think we need a news post to be told MS got thier wallets out for this exclusive DLC. Well im a PS3 owner and ill still be picking up this game on my PS3. XBOX360 has exclusive DLC and 2 exclusive games GOW2 and Fable 2 oh and dont forget thier upcomming childish avatars ripped straight from the Wii wich they think is gonna rival Home lol. A very feeble lineup is all the xbots have to get excited about this year. PS3 owners have Home when it finally arrives and some nice exclusive games and not to mention some nice multiplat games comming our way. This game hasnt even come out yet. it could suck. if MS is willing to shell out for it (dont be naive)then so be it. even when they announced the DLC for GTA I wasnt too put off, i still bought the game. after playing it i really had my fill so who cares. MS paid tons of money for the dlc that isnt even out yet and even if i owned a 360 might pass up. I was at first put off by the dlc for fallout but after hearing its really only going to be about equal to knights of the nine for oblivion didnt really care too much. it might seem dumb that sony doesnt try to compete in this arena but you have to remember that sony does alot more with its first and second party developers and is probably spending its money to strengthen there rather than try to outspend MS to get third party dlc they have minimal quality control over. for all we know the stuff could suck. if it doesnt then great for MS and 360 owners. you just have to put it into perspective. the money sony isnt spending on third party dlc theyre spending on first party games and im sure ps3 owners will see that down the line. Personally I have no problem with MS throwing money at third party devs as these days the price of making games is atrocious and im sure every bit counts.

Where in the article it says that MS paid for EDLC, because I don't see it. My thought is that they knew they could sell more copies of X360 version, so it would make more sense to give them something extra, besides you PS-Tools are so arrogant that when you learn that something is not coming to the POS3, you exclaim that you didn't want it in the first place, and then go make the level on LBP! So sad, so sad indeed!

i dont own a 360 and dont feel the need to as i have a ps3. what im saying is that 360 owners really seem to like the dlc that MS is (dont be naive people) paying for so thats cool for them. I work with a guy who bought ToV and when he told me he paid for charchter levels i thought that was extremely lame. Personally though i really dont care what MS spends money on as i dont own a 360. I do think the cotumes and level nickel and diming is kind of lame though but thats just my opinion

For everyone saying this is "no big deal because Tomb Raider sux", you gotta realise that just cuz you don't like it doesn't mean there's not two other people out there that do like it and can fill your spot, and might feel burned by this.

This is not good news for (at least some) PS3 players imo because it continues to take away PS3 players' choice on what they want or are willing to pay for in a multiplatform game to get their full satisfaction from it. A choice the competition has. XBox fans have the CHOICE to say no if they don't wanna buy DLC, no one's putting a gun to their heads and making them, but as a PS3 owner I don't have that choice on whether or not I feel like spending MY money on Fallout 3 DLC for example, or GTA4 DLC, or Tomb Raider DLC, or being able to play the COD4 map pack the same day as my friends can on XBox instead of waiting another freaking month. Even TNA Impact is now getting DLC on Xbox360 before PS3. Why?

It's even come down to exclusive demos of multiplatform games (Tomb Raider). Why? LOL at people who think Sony are doing their community a favor by not having a quarter the DLC perks that Microsoft offer for the exact same games. This does not benefit Sony, they're not saving us, there's no martyrdom here, it's a disservice to the people that wanted the best multiplatform experience on the most expensive console this gen that they chose over the competition.

Reality is DLC is here to stay, regardless of how people feel about it morally. Sony needs to get back on the horse and not turn this into another "people don't want vibration in their controllers" spiel. It's here, I have a PS3, I should be able to have access to just as many perks for my purchases as my XBox buddy who lives down the street and can play as the Hulk in Marvel Ultimate Alliance while I cannot.

I said it in a post yesterday, but what is MS actually gaining from blowing 50mill on GTAIV DLC? Does it REALLY think it's going to shift more 360's because they have DLC for Tomb Raider?

50mill, plus the money they've paid for Fallout and Tomb Raider DLC could easily have funded a AAA title. Hell, if the original Gears of War was put together for 10million they could have invested in at least 5 new titles using the Unreal Engine!

This may be 'cutting off my nose to spite my face', but I'll be buying Tomb Raider on the PS3 instead of my 360. Sony may also buy some DLC, but it's not as bad as MS, and you only have to look at the innovative games and new IP's it's delivering to see that exclusive DLC isn't their main focus.

It's a bit like a rich friend that no one likes,(some of you know what i mean) they mange to keep you around by flash money at you and buying you expensive gifts then spiting back in in your face by asking for it back. friendship isn't maintained this way and it will back fire!!!!!!!!!! as some of the x-box community have found out to the determent when a x-box console blows up in front of you, so it not big and isn't cleaver.

MS spent so much money on DLC deals and exclusives, that now they are having trouble. They have a hiring block on their gaming portion of business only. MS Fanboys don't realize...MS doesn't love them as much as they think because XBOX gives them no revenue compared to what Vista/XP does.

This game looks like a flop. As is every Tomb raider game. After the third one, these tomb raider games just flopped.

I got GTA4 for my SRL lens trade. Honestly it sucks..I don't know why people were hyping this game. M$ basically shot their foot AGAIN with Exclusive DLC for GTA4. By the time content comes out....it will be dry. M$ is so dumb they can't invest on their own exclusive first party studio but buys exclusive DLC. Sony is smart invests money on first party studios. This shows the quality of people working at Sony/M$

I can see this DLC as significant because it adds to the game. But if the game does not garner the popularity it needs to take advantage of that DLC.. it will be for nothing. Kind of what people are saying about GTA IV DLC.

i've never made it a secret that i dislike microsoft. as a tech for my company i've also switched to supporting apple over windows.

at first i decided to buy all three consoles. bought the 360 first because everyone kept telling me it had the most games and was cheaper.

larger library? yes

cheaper? no

after buying wifi and charge cable and live subscription it cost the same as my ps3 did later on that year. so the price on the surface was a lie. (not to mention i was scratching my head why there was no hdmi) hell even the wii has wifi

then i got hit with loud fan noise, over heating and the dvd drive scratched a few of my discs to the point that they were unplayable. good thing gamestop takes anything cause microsoft is aware of the problem but only replaces microsoft published games.

that was 2 months after i bought the console.

3 to 4 months later the same issues come back. i had warranty from the store so i replaced it at the store with a new one, this time i waited until their old non hdmi consoles were cleared off the shelves so i could buy one with hdmi and hopefully better fans and dvd drive. during this time i bought a ps3 while i waited for the hdmi-less 360's to be gone from the shelves.

finally got my 360 replaced, while it seemed to not scratch my dvd's and it was less hot, it was louder than ever. a month after xmas i traded in my 360 for a second ps3.. best decision i ever made.

that made it three 360's in under a year

yeah there are a few games i would like to play. gears 2, left 4 dead, tales of vesperia. but thats not enough to make me get a 360 again.

back on topic, dlc/expansions should be something considered for games that came out and are successful and the consumers want more reasons to continue playing. dlc for a game not out yet is just nickel and diming.
