It's not back. It's been gone since Sony dropped support. Doesn't mean it won't still receive games or have a small dedicated fan base, but overall it's been gone for a while.

Even Japan, who was the main buyer of the handheld, is starting to go down in units sold.

Traded mine in,after KZ:Mercenary it just collected dust.

It died for me when they stopped making the Maddens, Uncharted, NBA2k, Resistance, Ninja Gaiden, basically console on the go games other than phone style, RPG, or Indie games, which I have zero interest in.

I use mine all the time. 1) for Vita games and 2) for PS4 mobile play.

If you stream your ps4 to a vita, it's certainly not dead. This may go down as the biggest cult system of all time. I still want the orange.

I think it's time for a refresh in my opinion. It's been around for years now and mobile hardware is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than it use to be.

If Sony is going to support it, even if they don't launch high-end exclusive after the next, they could at least make a faster one and try putting PS3 ports on it and the current trend of indie/lower fidelity games on it.

I mean, not saying it has to be a second PS4 success story but give us something better at this point...

Muramasa Rebirth and Odin Sphere Leifthrasir on the Vita are some of my favorite games.

Just got hold of a vita with OLED screen playing Sine Mora and SOLDNER X amazing games that are perfect for vita with that gorgeous screen. More shmups please such a great system, Sony should of supported instead of letting it die slowly.

A systems only dead until you personally stop playing it, I still play ZX spectrum, C64, Snes, Megadrive, Neo Geo etc etc. These systems will never die they have thriving communities. The only time these systems die to me is when I'm dead.

I uploaded my vita games to my PC, but that took phanagaling to do as the app uses unsecure files to install.

Just jailbreak your Vita, then torrent the whole Vita collection, + emulators and roms. At least you can have all the Vita games. This is what I did with the New 3DS. It's awesome. The best part all those games will never go away cause you have them forever 😁

And this is why my PS3 and Vita haven't received an update in over a year.

That sucks. It was the only way I could transfer Valkyria Chronicles 2 to Vita.

Does that apply to the PSP as well? If so, that's the end of me enjoying region-locked content. It's not a ton, mind you, and I was resigned to the possibility of this happening one day. Thankfully I made sure to more or less future-proof my PSP and Vita by investing in as much memory as possible and downloading and transferring over as much as I could when I had the chance. Still...not a good move Sony.

JB the vita and PS3 and you probably make Switch collecting dust.

People acting like this is a big deal need to realise the Vita is old and dead, as is the PS3. They don't sell these consoles anymore - time to move on.

Re-buy is what they want.

Softmod your Vita (and PS TV if you own one), and it becomes one of the best gaming devices ever.

- You can still play online if you wish.

- Use an SD card (even 1 TB!) instead of the over-priced and no-longer-in-manufacturing trash Vita memory cards.

- Remove the PS Vita whitelist feature, and play every game, including Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, and everything else on your PS TV.

- Nearly every single PS1 game available to play with SAVE STATES (1% of games don't work with the Adrenaline emulator).

- The entire PSP library, with hacks such as translation mods and with SAVE STATES.

- Retroarch (or other standalone emulators), I've played Pokemon Yellow 151 Edition mostly on the portable, but at times I turned off my Vita, and plugged in the SD card into my PS TV to play it on the big screen.

- Homebrew games or ports, such as Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, San Andreas (ports from Android versions).

Sony has done nothing but disrespect their legacy devices, which are still excellent to play games on, and will remain as such for many years to come. Just softmod to solve all your problems.
