Star Wars Battlefront 2 Is a Clumsy, Complicated Sequel

Push Square: "Have you heard that famous Steve Jobs quote where he implies people don’t really know what they want? It’s all we’ve been thinking about playing the Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta. The thing is, we complained about the original game: we said it lacked depth, customisation, and replay value. And we weren’t the only ones: DICE clearly took that feedback to heart when it set about making a sequel to its 2015 sci-fi shooter. But the problem is, it’s arguably gone too far the other way."

It's a disgrace to the SW name honestly.

These games with always on radars giving away your spot need to stop.

Or just make a hardcore mode where it doesnt, but sw is technically advance so a helmet without a radar sounds dumb

Then the other team with their advanced tech made an anti radar detector...

I played about 1 hour of the beta, will be playing more tonight. I can't quite place my finger on it, but it didn't strike me as all that fun. Hopefully I will be proven wrong when I jump in with some buds tonight!

Same here, I think it's because it's lacking in more team orientated abilities. None of it quite has the same synergy as in DICE's battlefield games. A lot were worried it would be a Battlefield in a Star Wars skin but honestly at this point, that wouldn't be a bad thing. DICE are at their best making large scale games with an emphasis on smaller squad based units, this just feels like a heavily watered down concept of that.

I agree I couldn't put my finger on it but it's just not fun. It's stunning still and polished but it's missing that special something.

Still naboo was an awesome map

For me it has a lot to do with the lazer shooting mechanics in this game. It just doesn't provide the same feedback as as real bullets (which is odd because it felt fine in republic commando). Couple that we the hit detection, I just never feel confident that my shots were landing exactly where i wanted them to and making an impact. I pulled out the badass looking sniper and shooting it felt like I was throwing a pebble, that is just an unsatisfactory feeling.

is this more for singleplayets then or is the single player portion still just an alibi?
