I really enjoyed gen 6. It was the last generation, in my opinion, that was strictly about the games and we saw this tremendous leap in power from the previous generation. Operating systems were super simple and your options were, depending on the console, "start game", "options", "manage memory". I enjoyed the simplicity.

The games were also exceptional. Capcom was great in those days. They had Clover Studio and the Onimusha franchise. Games felt like they took forever to beat so you didn't need as many but you wanted it. With PS2 at least, there was always something to play. I miss it. Games were simpler and projects back then weren't really make-or-break the way they are now. A number of studios did well Gen 6, only to go out of business in Gen 7.

Golden years of the JRPG too, but we are seeing a great resurgence. Would love to see Dark Cloud 3. The current generation (and Gen 7) brought plenty of magic, but Gen 6 felt overwhelmingly magical. I'm sure a part of that is my being younger.

But you know what I reaaaaaaaaaaalllllly would love? Either a proper sequel or remake of Final Fantasy: The Chrystal Chronicles. Definitely a time to be alive. Online gaming was scarce, but it didn't matter.

If only SEGA didn't have a horrible 90's, the Dreamcast might have been a contender.

Nintendo gamecube is what made that Generation extra special. I didn't care for Xbox or knew what it was and we already know how the PS2 was doing.

Although I loved Generation 6, it was not the best Gen overall, but rather the last great generation. The perfect tip of the hat to Generation 5, bringing in gaming's maturity, and the last breath of true console gaming before it went completely mainstream.‎
Gen 6 brought us all a robust game lineup, mainly due to all three's graphical equilibrium (and developers willingness to take chances), and because of this we were rewarded with a slew of quality hits and cult classics.
We saw the dangers of monopolies with the biggest third party of the time EA (seriously, Purchase Everything should have been the tagline), the ending of the true term "exclusive" (Capcom 5 or Resident Evil), collaborations, and mergers.‎
The advancements came too, online play became a thing with the help of 56k modems, pushing Nintendo's NES online concept back in the eighties (check the stocks and your bank statements) and Sega's game downloads of the nineties (through television service), to easily one of the must-try things to do‎ with the Dreamcast before being refined with the newcomer, the Xbox.‎ Wireless controllers were refined aswell with the Wavebird, freeing us from the shackles of our cords and wallets.
‎Looking back, is Generation 6 the best? Close. But no gamer left that Gen wanting, I can promise you that.‎

The 16bit gen was the best..So much innovation and advancements during that time.

For me it was the 5th gen with the leap into 3d type video games . The PS1 had the best port of DOOM back in 1995 . Also TOMB RAIDER , DUKE NUKEM , QUAKE 2 , MEDAL OF HONOR just to name a few . N64 had SUPER MARIO 64 and GOLDEN EYE , DOOM 64 . Good times!!!!

The 16 bit gen was and always will be the best, when gameplay was king. And regards to Xbox if it wasn't for Halo the machine would of been dead in the water, the PS2 dominated.

Yes, Gen 6 was the best because we saw new game genres rising. Since than, all games are more or less the same but with better graphics and a bit refined gameplay.

The buggiest gen for sure..

Gen 6 may be the best generation to gamers for all sorts of reasons - nostalgia, the appearance of Xbox Live, the PS2 with the DVD player, etc. There were also games like the many JRPGs on Playstation, God of War, SOCOM, and we also had Crimson Skies and Halo on Xbox amongst others. Even the Gamecube had many fun games. However, I think the best generation right now is the present 8th one. We may not have as many games as in Gen 6 but we have better ones. Just look at what has been released for the PS4 alone this year. Add to that all the excellent multi-platform games we have had over the last three years like Wolfenstein, Doom, Fallout, FarCry, etc. etc. Japanese developers have come back with a bang with games like Persona 5, the Yakuza series and the many, many JRPGs. We have had many excellent indie games as well. Yes, gaming has been good this generation and made even better by the level of visuals we now have.

Each generation has had it highlights and its lows. I fondly remember the arrival of the PS1 and disc-based gaming how it changed gaming all over the world. I love the days on Nintendo 64 and the many special games that were delivered on that console. I especially remember the Dreamcast and the variety and originality of that console's games - I still play Jet Set Radio on it 17 years later. Apart from games like Uncharted, Infamous, God of War and the Last of US, the PS3 was a beast. I thought the Blu-ray player on the PS3 was excellent for the amount of money it cost and it allowed me to enjoy films on the new technology at a time when prices of standalone players were ridiculous. This generation has seen the arrival of VR and playing Resident Evil 7 with a PSVR and PS4 Pro is definitely special. We are about to get another beast of a console from Xbox and Sony amy have something in store as a reply.

Here is to Generation 9 and I hope it is even better than the present one.

IMO, the SNES / Genesis generation was the best. A lot of great arcade type games, excellent RPG's and just all around classics came out during that era.

The last generation where B-list games still mattered. Now, a game has to have a budget of at least $60M and score no lower than 90 on Metacritic to be considered buy-worthy.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
