While it can’t be denied that some of the character models are terrible and feel like a downgrade coming off from Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, this also undermines the vastly superior gameplay that is featured in Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite.

A surprise 35GB update for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite dropped seven years after the last patch, without any explanation from Capcom.

The new Beyond mod for the Steam (PC) version of Capcom's fighting game, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, has achieved 50,000 downloads.

Capcom's crossover fighting game, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, has seen a resurgence on Steam following the release of the Beyond mod.
"While the character roster is disappointing for a lot of fans, it should be stated that one of the reasons why the disappointment exists is because of the lack of X-Men characters in the roster."
That's not the only reason the roster is completely underwhelming, even though the reasoning for the longtime fan favorite characters is stupid. The roster still doesn't even do much to fill the gap that their exclusion brought. There's very little returning characters from MvC2 and there's a low amount of newcomers in this installment. Not to mention that a lot of great Capcom characters from UMvC3 were dropped in this game, yet Spencer of all people made it. So much opportunity was lost in building a roster that could work around dropping various longtime favorites that makes the exclusion of previous veterans more apparent.
Aside from Mega Man X, there's not even a lot of surprise characters, something this franchise is famous for. And the DLC characters has there being more Marvel characters than Capcom characters instead it being an even split as is the usual case for this series.
Also with the move away from the unique comic book aesthetic the series lost a bit of its unique charm. Also the move to a realistic art style doesn't mesh well with characters who weren't designed for it. This was clearly done to try to make this more appealing to the MCU crowd more than Marvel fans as a whole.
Most egregious of all is that there's no character specific endings after beating the arcade mode, another longtime staple of the series among many that's missing in this installment. That just means there's less incentive to beat it with every character.
Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is a serviceable game, but it can't be denied that they dropped the ball in many regards.
SFV burned me enough to not trust Capcom this gen with their fighting games.
The character roster itself, is a spit in the face of those who have been fans of the series from the beginning. What's funny, is it started with Akuma being in X-Men: Children of the Atom.
It fully deserves the hate.. I bought the $90 deluxe edition and played the hell out of it so i know 1st hand the game is a rip off corporate sell out title.. Yeah, marvel has issues with the xmen.. Im over that part.. Its the ugly ass art direction, sound, laughable extras, and weak roster.. Capcom has no excuse to omit some amazing characters they left out and the wave 1 DLC has 4 marvel and 2 capcom making it uneven.. I love the gameplay.. It was well done and fluid. Literally everything else was lazy! Poorly executed so the corporate cash hounds can try to sell comics, toys, and other merchandise.. Im glad and sad it failed.. They deserve it but the fans lose too.. It could be the last of its kind because of those greedy bastards selling out its fans for casuals..
I think it does. They did not learn their lesson from SFV. They are holding back characters for DLC and selling a bare minimum for a full price. Just like they did with SFV. There are better fighting games out now like Tekken 7 and Injustice 2 or even MKX. Get one of those if you need to buy a fighting game.
