Destiny 2's Problem is a Social One

Destiny 2 has a lot of great people playing, but why can’t we all just play nice? This a wonderful game, so let's not ruin it.

It was way worse in the first one, where couldnt even find a raid fireteam unless you had a certain game breaking rocket launcher.....

I know I miss those Ghorn days!

Palitera3144d ago

I had 3 maxed chars and it was never a barrier to me.

Bolts3145d ago

Bungie totally over did this raid in an pathetic attempt to gate players behind the mechanics wall. That’s all it is. The number of confusing and down right unfun puzzle encounters makes it hard to find players to repeat the raid. What’s worst is that it encourages toxic elitetist attitudes in raiders vs new players. I want intense team based tactical combat not this puzzle solving garbage.

Bruh3144d ago

Bungie as usual took a short cut, instead of making an expansive Raid thats long and very team centric. They wanted to extend the duration by making confusing and stupid puzzles.

Maxor3144d ago

I agree entirely. This raid isn't hard, its annoying AF. I don't play Destiny for end game puzzle solving. I'm at the point where I'm hidding from my clan members and friends because just adding one new player to the raid can result in 30 min-1 hour of additional time.

If future raids are puzzle based instead of fun tactical combat then this game will be a ghost town, fast.

Bruh3143d ago

@Maxor
My first run through was with my clan members who beat it 5 times already and as I'm a very quick learner I picked up and beat it within 2 hours. But OMG the dog section is pure BS, the final boss fight is unnecessarily taxing the only section I enjoyed was the relay race

Gwiz3144d ago

People stay in the firefights to avoid the puzzles, this is especially a problem to those that seek guidance to actually finish the raid.Bungie's holy team effort is not working with guided games,it's not going to work.

Beta's are usually meant for technical issues and not social experiments, just face it Bungie!!your game is not going to change the world.(anyone that knows Bungie's philosophy knows why i'm phrasing it like this)

maybelovehate3144d ago

I don't really get how they are confusing? The mechanics are pretty simple once you know them. Great raid. Not as good as Kings Fall or Vault of Glass, but I would have it as 3rd overall. And not too distant.

joab7773144d ago

I agree but not in the way most ppl think. It is missing social activities for mmo-ish players to partake in. It draws various genres of gamers unlike any other game, from mmos to fps games. And I’m not saying that the fps players are the problems, as I’ve had my issue with many raiders in mmos, but many mmos are able to assuage more casual player so by giving them a bunch of other things to do, from crafting, to completionist achievements etc., using lore and cosmetic rewards.

The problem often is that if you play Destiny and don’t raid or play Trials, your content will dry up fast. And while guided games is a step in the right direction, ppl can often be turned off quickly. Hell, while I’ve read aided in many mmos and D1, we had a clan member join us for our first time and he had so little patience that ppl left.

Either that or they need places that ppl can go and sign up for groups and times to work at a particular pace, b/c the content is so damn good.

Gwiz3144d ago (Edited 3144d ago )

Some even deliberately waste your time, this is even worse than matchmaking. Now you have groups that are organized trolls.Great job Bungie. (understand that waiting to even get in game takes up to 30/45 mins)

Themba763144d ago

stop complaining i beat the raid 30 times already its easy

Gwiz3144d ago

Shut up,there just as useful.

Honestly Thank Goodness!! Yet another good sign of a possibility of returning to what made them great and undoing Jim Tyans trend chasing love service gamble. Still gotta wait and see just what direction they're going but this is a good sign in my book that they're not betting it all on live service anymore

S2Killinit93d ago (Edited 93d ago )

Not sure what you lot are talking about anymore. They need to cover all range of games. Im primarily a single player gamer, but even I cannot be daft enough to ignore the fact that we need all manner of games including live service games. Everyone here seems to be a market expert.

isarai_lee93d ago (Edited 93d ago )

Yes "all manner" not just exclusively live service like Jim was doing, but you also shouldn't be forcing devs to make games they not only have no experience making, but also flatout dont want to do.

S2Killinit93d ago

Assuming that anything like that is actually the case and not just a perception of n4g commenters of course.

I don't understand why you people have to keep making up lies. You can say you don't like some or most of their focus being on live service games, but to say they were exclusively focusing on live service games is pure copium. At most half of their games were live service and the rest were single player games. Seriously why lie about something so obvious?

isarai_lee93d ago

@Redemption-64

You say that as if we don't have word directly from Jim Ryan and PlayStation stating they wanted at least 12 live service games released within a year. Followed by tons of official word of those Live Service games being cancelled after he was pushed out. All studios combined at the time PS had 15 studios, 12 is a hell of a lot more than half of 15, and it was definitely their primary focus evident by the fact that a huge portion of their studios have taken uncharacteristically long to release or announce anything since, hell some studios have yet to release anything this gen almost 6 YEARS LATER! The only one making stuff up is you.

It may take a while but maybe they are finally learning. Good! Now stop with the live service crap.

ABizzel194d ago

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a live service here or there, but to have many of your studios start focusing on it when there has been little to no experience among them was wild.

Christopher94d ago (Edited 94d ago )

They say this and then immediately release news of the Horizons co-op game that will definitely be a Live Service game.

isarai_lee93d ago

I feel like they knew that given the fact that the very furst thing they say in the trailer is to reassure they still make so games 😆

vTuro2494d ago

Bet they're regrettings spending those billions pretty hard right now.

S2Killinit93d ago

Destiny has been a huge success.

Redemption-6493d ago

They will not. Destiny has been popular for over 10 years, something most games can never hope to achieve. Most people, including myself those Bungie was going to make a D3 after the final shape DLC. Marathon looks to be a hit and a D3 announcement could break records.
