You say Nintendo won the entire year just because of one conference? PS4 meanwhile has and will received/received the most games this year.

Not to mention Sony will have a conference of its own next week and in December.

I will wait on Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem Warriors before saying that. So far, with Zelda, Snipperclips and (miraculously) Mario + Rabbids, they're having one heck of a year, even if I didn't even bother looking at Splatoon 2 or 1,2 Bargain Bin.

No they haven't. This is just an overly excited author who watched the direct and decided to rush to N4G to declare "Nintendo has won 2017", whatever that even means. This opinion piece is sickeningly pro Nintendo to the point where it's cringe worthy to read.

Be careful guys praising Nintendo on this website is not a good thing with the Anti-Nintendo crowd or Anti-X crowd around here. They've ensured the Switch is successful off the bat, has the right software coming, and 3DS is not being ignored. These opinion pieces are premature, but not baseless.

Not an objective opinon. PS4 has been winning this year. by far.

The Switch has gotten great 1st and 2nd party support this year and the PS4 has also gotten great 1st and 2nd party support this year but see.. the difference is that the while the PS4 has great 1st and 2nd party support it also has great third party support. I can't say the same for the Switch. While the Switch has definitely had a great year and is beginning to get decent 3rd party support, it has still missed out on a lot of 3rd party support this year which is why I would have to give this year to the PS4.

Nintendo games don’t interest me. The 3rd party games are already on PS4 and look/run much better.

Need one more cool game, beyond Mario and Xenoblade 2, to justify a Switch for me -- I already scored Zelda on Wii U, because it was basically the same as the Switch version.

I'm not gonna buy crossplat software on the Switch though.. heck no, why would I? Reeeally hoping they fix the "it heats up and warps" problem before I buy one, though. It's not gonna move from the dock much, for me.

I still think the Switch is basically a fad for rich peeps. No respectable 3rd party games should ever expect to sell more there than on Xbox One, let alone PS4. That'll kill it, in the end... just like the Wii and Wii U.

Who knew the Switch would have such an amazing launch year line up, with a slew of great titles including multiple potential GOTY contenders.

xenoblade 2 might be excellent but it's too bad it came out the same year as persona 5. No way it's better. The only big new announcement out of that direct was doom/ wolfenstein. Everything else was meh... And we don't even know what Doom will look like and it will definetlly come out for 60 bucks on the switch when it will be dirt cheap everywhere else.

Nintendo is doing very well but you can't understimate the year Sony has had and the the big exclusive titles releasing for PS4 in the next 8 months.

id say the first half was sony dominant. i know zelda came out, sony still had better games overall coming out befor that. not a whole lot happend after that actually lol. for all consoles.

Both consoles are worth every dime i spent on them.. I will say the switch is doing a fantastic job for only being 6 months or so old..

Best launch year for any system and best year period imo. Zelda, Mario Odyssey, and Xenoblade are going to be the three highest rated titles of the year. Splatoon 2 is my fav mp title of the year. Nin has 2017 on lock.

I'd say Nintendo has showed the most improvement in 2017, but they still have a looong way to go. Sony's line up so far in both first and third party support is hard to beat.

I played a hell of a lot more great games on PS4 than on Switch.

so, the list consists of a few games that populate ALL nintendo consoles and then the bulk are filled with games that have already been released on every other platform over the past 2+ years. winning!!!

I'm going with PS4, literally haven't stopped playing it since the beginning of the year with Tales of Berseria, then Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 5, Crash Bandicoot NSane Trilogy, Uncharted The Lost Legacy, and now on Destiny 2

Seriously they are. As always Nintendo invests in gaming not entertainment. I get people want there systems with power, teraflops, and 4k but I felt it was a slap in the face for gamers when Sony and Microsoft launched these upgraded systems at the price of a new system. There was no reason these systems shouldn't of have been a new launch system instead they seem to always focus on the glitz and glamour of a system and not the quality. People seem to forget the PS4 hack or the malfunctioning xboxes and I feel it happens because they could care less about quality of the system and what it brings to gaming, can't tell you how many PS4 updates are due to "better quality performance". Nintendo still goes for gaming, investing in changing it, upgrading it, just making it feel fresh. The switch will gain back the consumer trust, which should be there main priority this year and there doing an absolutely stellar job.

I'd like to say PC has won, but in the console space heck yeah. Not only did they release the highest rated game of all time, not only is the Switch still sold out, not only is the 3DS still selling like hotcakes, but they have gained 3rd party support and have been releasing AAA titles that people want. Remember last time Nintendo gained 3rd party support? Wii and that badboy was the fastest selling console.

With Mario O, Samus Returns, Xenoblade chronicles 2, and Fire Emblem as first party support along with South Park, WWE2k18, Wolfenstein, Skyrim, and countless others from 3rd party Nintendo showed the most growth.

As it stands right now the top ten games this year are Zelda, Persona, Mario Kart, Samus Returns, Nioh, Horizon, Uncharted, Mario + Rabbids, Splatoon 2, and Resident Evil 7. Half of those belong to Nintendo and there is 0 doubt in my mind that Mario will be the highest rated game of all time next to Zelda. The only real competition Nintendo has is Sony and Valve.
