"We love creating these cool content and features for you guys. We want to make new maps, we want to make new heroes, we want to make animated shorts. That's where our passion is, but we've been put into this weird position where we're spending a tremendous amount of time and resources punishing people and trying to make people behave better," he said. Any game with a credible ranking system in place will always deal with toxicity. You should know this even from Halo 2 in 2004 with standby-ing, modding, and de-ranking.
Consider it an accomplishment that you have created something that people take this seriously.
With this type of competitive atmosphere, you will always have trolls online due to anonymity. Stop pleading with them and just double down on effective punishment. Your game is contending for the most played game on the planet. Start acting like it.
It's an online shooter. What do you expect
You design a game that basically invites and promotes the very toxic community you've built, and now you ask them to stop.
Obviously this is PR bulls**t, but still, if there's even a shred of sincerity to this, maybe take your head out of your a** and fix it yourself.
