I have bioshock on 360 since last year and I finished it 3 times and am now on my forth run on hard and..the 360 version looks much better,trust me am not a fanboy,yes 2k did a bad job porting the game

BIOSHOCK CAME OUT ON THE PS3! A few months ago it was Xbox and PC only owner's pride and joy that they held against PS3 converts/lovers/whatever like myself.

Now? It's out on the PS3. Who cares if its a little worse looking than the 360 version?? Seriously, just get it on the PC.

Whoever thought that a PORT from PC code to the PS3 with the UE3 ENGINE would make the PS3 version look better? seriously...

if your that much of a graphics slut just get it on the PC or just get MGS4, Gran Turismo Prologue, Resistance 2, Uncharted Drakes Fortune, Killzone 2 or even Heavenly Sword, or just wait a bit for God of War 3 and the other games.

There are issues with certain textures as reported already, 2k are working on that. Other than that they are identical +added blur on PS3 for edges(loos very nice in motion in my opinion)

The Big Daddy one is correct though, I found the details on Big Daddy to be a little...lacking.

Other than that, some of the water images are blurred a bit, not true.

The 360 has better textures, but if you were already gonna get this for the PS3 this isnt going to stop you.

So I see some people saying the 360 version is better because it has better graphics. I disagree. I think the PS3 version is better because it has exclusive content that the 360 version doesn't have. I would gladly give up better graphics for more content as the gameplay is what makes the game. I just think that people who only have a 360 are still butt hurt about losing a good exclusive.

The 360 version looks better. It has better colors and looks less blurry/washed out, but this shouldn't stop you PS3 only owners from getting it.

Those ground textures blow KZ2 away wow. I guess the value for your PS3 is really showing and I doubt any game even exclusive to PS3 has ground textures better then this or the average 360 game. Its still a good game regardless, but yes I agree the 360 version does look better, but thats because it was made for the 360! But no matter what console you own, you should get this game because this is one of the best games ever made! That being said if this game was released on the wii it would still be a great game even though the graphics would never match up to the 360 or ps3 versions.

I played this game and its weak! Yes Weak! I can't believe this title even has the hype it does. Omg, ps3 graphics on a "ported" game aren't as good. Ummmm once LBP, KZ2, R2, GoW3 come out, who the hell cares about a xbox 360??? anyone that does is just mad they spent money on the weaker system.

IDC if this is a demo build, Don't Compare It At All, it really will retract from your experience with the game, naturally you're going to start looking for textures to compare with the 360 version

Buy it for the gameplay, not for the sake of graphics. I liked the demo so far and it was an interesting game.

As much as I wanted a better version on PS3, and might have bought this game had it had the better version - It's better on 360.
I have both demos, (I know the main game could be different, but that's not very likely) and saw the same thing the 360 has a lot crisper textures, and the frame rate is smoother, particularly when you look up.
I also noticed the PS3 version upscaled to 1080p, I unchecked it to compare at 720p and there wasn't a lot of difference. What can you expect from an UE3 game though? You also can't help but wonder if it was somewhere in the 'timed exclusive' contract with MS, that the game couldn't look better on PS3. Really has you wondering about IGN's comments a couple months ago:

"Although it was still an early build of the game, the title looks fantastic. The water effects look much slicker, as do many of the environments as they are slowly submerged in water. It's quite obvious that 2K is taking full advantage of the PS3's Blu-ray discs to pack in cleaner high resolution textures for every facet of the game" Which clearly doesn't appear to be the case on the Demo - I compared the water effects, they're about the same. Why would he lie? Were the 'higher res' textures removed?

newsflash: this game is over-rated. it starts out awesome but then loses considerable steam towards the middle. still, it has some awesome moments interspersed in the last half but I thought the end is weak, both endings that is.

It's like the devs latched onto something awesome but never expanded upon it. I kept waiting for the world to open up but it just grew more and more claustrophobic and linear. The enemies grow repetetive, too. Some of the RPG elements are superfluous and the hacking mini-game gets dull real fast. Its a great game no doubt but I wouldn't classify it as an elite game like Half-life, Portal, Mass Effect, or Halo (as examples).

I played the ps3 demo and could remember a year ago playing the 360 demo and found the ps3 looked worse than what I remembered. Textures are bland and it looks like the ps3 version runs at a lower resolution and the frame rate was bad on the ps3 very jerky when looking around.

ps3 version = they added too much blur filter to cover the aliasing, it was used in 360 version also but not as heavy; dev also added bloom effects on most of the neon sign and lights in the PS3 version. Both 360 and Ps3 runs at 720p with no AA. Crappy big daddy texture is most likely due to a LOD bug, the game forgot to load in the texture as you gets closer to the object. Overally its a good decent port, just that the developer made a bad decision and applied too much blur filter, some ppl may like it since it hide more aliasing and flickering when the you play the game in motion, but I think many ppl hated it.

So much for improved graphics over the 360. Improved, no, but if it's blurrier that you're looking for, well then my friends, you're in luck.

I own a PS3 I this is why I didnt buy this game, because those crap developers, after getting 1 more year to polish the game, they dont do anything about that, they cant even make this game look like COD4. What is the score now, 360/300 to 2/PS3? this is starting to feel like a war with guns vs rocks.

I don't have an xbox360 to compare wih the PS3 version demo but I do have Bioshock on the PC and I got to say it is almost identical besides the fact it is a bit burry on the PS3.

Anyways on the PC it is runing I was runnign it at 1024X768 in a 19' monitor while the PS3' was running at 720p 26' TV.

I wonder if Bioshock on the PS3 can run at 1080p because if it can does that the small blurry thing will probably poof aways.

I had so much fun playing this game on the PC but I did not like much the controls on the keyboard besides the fact a FPS using a mouse is the best option.
I will probably buy the PS3 version as well since it is one of the top 3 best games I have played on this gen on any console or PC and also I loved the controls on the VG and the loading time seems even faster then on my PC(AMD X2 64bit +4 gram _Gforce 7950gx2).

Too bad 2K did not make a Special edition for this game.it would be worth buying .

a couple of the shots listed in the links above have been photoshopped and yeah some comparison shots are from PC version or ps3 with standard RGB as usual this is a fanbot trait to try to prove something both games look just as good and these comparison threads have to stop there has been no MAJOR differnce now in nearly a year in multi platform titles. People really have to start looking how great the game is rather than minor differnces as honestly that wont make a damn bit of differnce when you goto buy the game the only people who make these posts are 360 fanboys and have to fake pics to prove a point and its sad really as they are actually hurting their console doing so rather than helping it.

2K has said the bad texture on Big Daddy in the demo was a fault, and that it's the exception to the rule. I played the demo and didn't notice any major faults.

For those of you who haven't played the game, don't! There are so many titles coming out in Oct/Nov. that you won't even remember this crap titles name. The truth is 360s graphics are better for Bioshock but that's expected considering its a port! Save your money for one of the other dozen titles launching this month, trust me you'll be glad you did.

The ps3-version seems to have higher AA and the specular has been turned down a little compared to the 360-version. That's why the games might seem a little less poppy, but I think that's a good thing tbh.
I haven't played the Xbox360 version or the PS3 demo, only the PC-version. Which had way too high specular values all over the place.
That's what I figured out from the screenshots at least.

People screaming about lower res textures should know that it's highly probable that the ps3-version uses the exact same assets as the 360- and PC-build.

Everyone who appreciate amazing art direction and great atmosphere should really check Bioshock out, in whatever way or medium you approach it.
It's in no way a perfect game, but it's definetly one of the better games from last year :)

Listen, I'm all about the PS3. I love Sony. I love their products. I even own their stock. I also hate Microsoft because I despise their business practices. I've had 2 RRODs on my 2003 model 360, and my PS3 barely even stutters, but Bioshock just plain looks better on the xbox. And I'll tell you why.

The graphics card on the 360 is superior in design to the one on the PS3. It distributes graphics processes across all of its pipelines evenly, which allows for redundant lighting rendering to be performed through unused bandwidth. The PS3 GPU let's processes overflow onto the next pipeline when the first is full, so for most games, the latter half of the pipelines aren't even used most of the time. Because of this model, RAM needs to be dedicated to measuring the number of processes being sent through a pipeline and redirecting overflow, whereas with the 360'S GPU it only needs to be sent through once. This is why Sony opted to have RAM dedicated to the GPU (which by the way is incredibly smart architecture, and why a 256mb gpu is holding its own against a 512).

That said however, the Cell chip is light-years ahead of the xenon or whatever the hell it's called which is essentially a stripped down multi-cored pentium. The Cell is a brute-force computing monster that can spit out renders faster than just about any other processor out there. In the near future, you're going to be seeing games on the PS3 that can't be done on the 360. This is not to say that the 360 won't look as good graphically (cause it will), but that you will notice some really insane levels of on-screen activity in future PS3 games. Developers just aren't used to the method of execution yet. It takes time. It's like when Linux first came out and all the people who had been using windows since 1985 didn't want to switch to a harder (but more powerful/efficient) OS. Simple as that.

A Bioshock film with cheap special effects? A hard pass.

Stop making films and start making series. You cannot cover this game in a 2 hour movie. Also the only live action adaptation worth watching was Yu Yu and One Piece, I can only trust in Netflix absolutely butchering this.
