...I didn't see quality like that at all; it's almost like he put it on PC and changed the quality and took two pics... also, given that these are aren't direct screenshots, I'll again have to take this as questionable... (since PC screenshots aren't easy for some for some reason) and the guy who collected the pics didn't even take them, he got them online from somewhere.

... I'll take a second look, and if I find anything like that, I'll report it as true, if not, Then the following applies:

Bull; because when I played the demo, I didn't see a single texture that looked bad.

Although if I played this before MGS4, I'm sure I would've been more impressed.

give me until the second day of the week to report.

2k games are all on top of it.

Sad days for Sony. But, hey, look on the brightside atleast they got the health bars looking about on par with the xbox 360 version. That's something, isn't it?

Edit: Gettin' disagrees here, so obviously I'm missing something. So you all are trying to tell me the health bars don't look the same as the xbox 360 version?

Let me see for myself.... (2 min later) ... Yup, you're right, the health bars on the xbox 360 version are a tad, if maybe evena smidge, better looking and more clear. Good call for the disagrees.

Genesis56357d ago (Edited 6357d ago )

We already know that anything originaly coded for PC and the 360 does not port well to the PS3. I played the demo last night and the game play is fine.

Now when things are specifically coded for the PS3 it really starting to show what it has under the hood LBP, Killzone2 games that are designed for the cell.

Using a year old PC port is hardly anyway to gage the full power of the PS3. By the way the game does not not look anything like that picture on my PS3 and TV it's a lot better than that.

Fruit Loops6357d ago

You handeled your disagrees well.

ZombieNinjaPanda6357d ago (Edited 6357d ago )

I wouldn't exactly trust screenshots from some random forum out there.

From experiencing just the demo itself, it looks great!

I don't care what anyone says, this is a great game.

Hmm: disagrees rolling in.

Is the game not good? Can we trust random forums like this?

I don't know what the hell you guys are talking about.

I'm playing the damn demo right now, and it looks really good.

KobeT246357d ago

yeah your right. the ps3 version far inferior to the 360 color wise, and thats a huge disappointment considering 2K had MONTHS to at least get it up too par. this is embarrassing.

solidt126357d ago

I think it still looks good after playing the demo but there are some obvious things that didn't port over to the best it could of like sparks, water squirting through cracks and fire graphics. If you didn't play this game on the 360 I say it is still a buy on the PS3 because it is a great game. Plus the PS3 port has Trophies.

PimpHandStrong6357d ago

just like Bush and satan

PS3 is junk

muddygamesite6357d ago

I personally hope bioshock sells very well. It deserves it. Having minor technical problems like these could be simply be because of the Difficulty associated with running games smoothly on the PS3 using the UE3, However, it will definitely make PS3 owners feel 2k games haven't used the 1 year port time properly. There is no question as to the PS3's capability. Previous releases have proved what the system is capable of achieving. This is most likely a case of "Wrong tools for the job".

I seriously hope a silly pixelated Big Daddy comparison Shot won't put people off this game (according to the 2k forums, people have already cancelled their pre-orders). If anything, this should be a lesson to developers to try and get PS3 multi-platform titles out the same time as the xbox360 counterparts. That way, the game will have a better chance of being properly appreciated by the target audience.

Thank you all

thewhoopimen6357d ago

That pic is most likely a fake or poor quality control on 2k's part. I've never seen any pixellation that bad on any other textures from the bathyscape to splicers. Even making the false assumption that the ps3 has problems loading textures, due to less memory... A developer would most likely select to downgrade textures on non-essentials first like ground, windows, toilet stalls, faucets, and other non-essential objects b4 downgrading a main character or object like the big daddy (I'm assuming). Most likely they forgot to swap it out, while they were porting. Besides if you think about it, one texture on a daddy is hardly going to give a ps3 a huge performance hit.

The Dark Side6357d ago

You get disagree cause you saying sad day for Sony. Sony fall strategy is not base on a Bio Shock port Besides people will be playing Socom, Motorstorm 2, Resistance 2, and Little Big Planet. I will say that is a happy day for a PS3 owner. Are you that dumb to think that PS3 owners most anticipated game this Holiday was Bioshock. LMFAO! Your such a fanboy.

Eddie201016357d ago

Not trying to be a fanboy but it so f-ing obvious that the PS3 picture is doctored.

As for the colors being less bright they can be adjusted on the TV and is just a matter of preference. To me most games on the Xbox 360 at default settings on my LCD look over saturated and too dark, but I can adjust my set to fix that, in fact I can adjust the for each console(because there on separate inputs)so that they pretty much match in color, brightness, and contrast.

I've played both and own it on the Xbox 360, there is no difference in the textures, at least in the PS3 demo and I have a very good eye for detail. the aliasing is not as bad on the PS3 version, the lighting is a little better and the water effects look a little better, but the opening sequence is a little jerky in places, where in those spots it runs pretty smooth on the Xbox 360, it may have been fixed in the full version of the PS3 game. The actual game play is just as smooth on both versions.

It seems a lot of people make comments without using any common sense.

ape0076357d ago

trust me,I have both systems and the matter of fact I love ps3 more cause of the awesome AAA upcoming exclusive(lbp,kz2,r2 heavy rain,gow3)
and the blu-ray being the feature for games(I wish gta 5 be a ps3 exclusive)

but guys, you got to say the truth

I have bioshock on 360 since last year and I finished it 3 times and am now on my forth run on hard and..the 360 version looks much better, trust me am not a fanboy, yes 2k did a bad job porting the game

not only looks beetter on 360 but runs better as well

BISHOP-BRASIL6357d ago (Edited 6357d ago )

LOL, aside from the first pic (which also have the bright bar on DIFFERENT POSITION), every pics are from the SAME version. The guy doesn't even care to use bit different angles to most pics (totally equal angles are almost impossible, spcially because PS3 version controls suck). Just look at the last one, it comes to the point the 3D model looks more as an real image in PS3 version, while having less color, no visible polygon arests, but still pixelation. I think reducing sharp and pixelize on photoshop never gets old.

Now, I'm not saying PS3 version is on par. I played it on PC last year and that water was so better that I actually laught at PS3 demo when the plane tail was going under, it was like you have a plane full of fruit salt, the water don't make waves or just bubles, but just squirts up.

But the worst transition was the gameplay, PS3 version you can barely aim, even walk is exagerated, like if the controls are too sensive. Taken enemies out with the revolver is a pain in the @ss, you most likely will miss at least a shot and still get hurt once, much better just swing the wrench (Ratchet, it's you?) in their direction or paralize if they are in the water.

What the hell 2K has done in one year? The PC version was good game (I never taked as GOTY material, but good regardless), with good narrative and good controls. But the PS3 demo (and probably the version) is most likely a dumbed down version, with crap gameplay, weak narrative (not really the case, but they should have choose better for the demo, cause that was boring), poor graphics (not so crappy, but still not on par with top PS3 games), spin-off psi-powers that could just be weapons, you don't have that much control of it other than "shoot" (again wrong, but the demo make it looks like it)...

You get it, most people will think this is just more one mediocre shooter. I'm not surprized people already started to canceal pre-order. 2K don't deserve the money.

@DarkSide

You're right man. This just don't have pissed me off because I, as most people, was not holding my breath for this game, because that was real sad indeed... But sad for 2K.

"Hey guys,

First, I want to thank you for the acute attention to detail and the Spartan level of expectation our most devoted BioShock fans hold us to, and how excited you are and attentive to the BioShock PS3 demo. When we saw a post asking about issues found in the demo, we jumped on it immediately. And you know what, you're right. The texture in the PS3 demo of the downed Big Daddy does not match our level of quality either. This slipped by. We admit it. However, I want to assure you that this is an exception, and not a rule, and while I regret this oversight, we put a lot of love into making this game look amazing for the PS3 and I'm sure that when you play the rest of the demo you will agree that the textures are not all like this one instance.

As for the other issues and concerns, we are currently diligently working to replicate any bugs, and will report back to you with what we find. Thank you for your vigilance here and moving forward."

http://forums.2kgames.com/f...

Interested in seeing how they are going to handle this, hopefully some issues can be fixed in a patch. But something must be done, unacceptable.

I will be picking this title up on PS3, but probably not until November due to LBP, I'm just too addicted to the Beta already, but 2K if you get your sh!t together you'll get a purchase out of me. Love the demo, but you guys need to release a game that is actually complete

ActionBastard6357d ago (Edited 6357d ago )

It's a shame 360 owners are that insecure they post PC shots and try to pass them off as 350. The community manager at 2K has already stated the 1 Big Daddy texture discrepancy was isolated, "It slipped by" according to 2k Elizabeth. All these other pics are dishonest. Period. Pop quiz: Are these PS3 vs 360 comparison shots or 360 vs PC?

DailyAddict6357d ago

they are called ports for a reason; cause they are afterthoughts. No developer ever gets a rats ass about a port. They only do them to please the masses. They built the game as a 360/PC game, so I never expected a PS3 port (much like all the rest of the PS3 ports) to be good.

For those that are taking this as a "PS3 is weaker than 360" you're retarded. This has nothing to do with the power of the machines. It's lazy developers doing a lazy job at porting.

pixelsword6357d ago

I played the demo myself. The guy posting it didn't even take the pictures, he said so himself; and the story being alluded to talking about people canceling Bioshock orders linked to a forum which didn't match what the story said.

False.

Pika-pie6357d ago (Edited 6357d ago )

Looks like a texture load issue. Im sure they can fix that but who cares anyway. Better games on the horizon.

BattleAxe6357d ago

If anyone doesn't belive that these photos from a forum aren't doctored then you've got to be just plain stupid.

NickIni6357d ago (Edited 6357d ago )

That's an incredibly stupid screen shot to compare the two games, one screen shot comparison does not display the graphics for the entire game.

To truly compare the graphics, several screen shots spread throughout the game would give a much better comparison. I think these are the demo screenies, and 2k have already promised the real game is much better.

No Way6356d ago

Oh. Wow. I don't think I've EVER seen that many agrees and disagrees for one person. I mean 55 agrees, and 108 disagrees!?

Haha. But, props on handling the disagrees in a good manner! =P

Stubacca6356d ago

I played the demo and really lied it. I thought it looked and played fine. I never actually played it on the 360 but my mates all said it was awesome, and it even got numerous Game Of The Year awards.

I'm glad I'll finally get a chance to play it on my beloved PS3 but it's a shame it came out when there's loads of great game coming out, such as LBP, Fallout 3 and Resistance 2. And I'm still playing Wipeout HD, Warhawk and Metal Gear Online. So I might have to leave it till another month, but I'm happy it's comin out!

Final_Rpg6356d ago

UE3 and PS3 DON`T mix well.

If anyone is TRYING to say the PS3 can`t HANDLE Bioshock, LOOK at a screen/video of Killzone2. PLease.....Bioshock PS3 won`t even sell well because of LBP. We (alot of people) don`t care about some year old UE3 game, too much is RIGHT around the corner and currently in our hands. (like the LBP beta, which in BETA form is better than ANY retail game on the MARKET)

Sitdown6357d ago (Edited 6357d ago )

one who clicked disagree.....but I can see an error in your logic. The error is that there will be plenty of people who like Bioshock and not necessarily care about LBP. I finally got into the Beta of LBP...and after a couple of hours, I am seriously thinking about canceling my pre-order and waiting until the game drops in price......at this time I think I am more interested in fps and not collecting items and stickers. Perhaps there is more that I am missing in LPB though.

HighDefinition6357d ago

But that will be the MINORITY.

That`s all.

solidt126357d ago

Yep, Killzone 2 and plenty of other games can really show off the PS3 graphics. Bioshock looks good but it is still a port from the 360 which can be iffy sometimes. But I still say it is a buy if you haven't played it based off the demo because it still plays well and still looks really good. Like I said above just a few thing didn't port over as well.

OOG6357d ago

for some reason you seem to find a way to bring up killzone and lbp in a thread that has nothing to do with them

Sitdown6357d ago (Edited 6357d ago )

To be honest, I think that you are going to find a great amount of people who will not buy into this game(LBP). Just out of curiosity...do you think this will be a bigger game for the ps3 than MGS IV was...as far as sales are concerned? I can see this game going the way of Viva Pinata...a game that is considered great, but not necessarily played by all.

HighDefinition6357d ago (Edited 6357d ago )

LBP will be the HIGHEST rated game when the REVIEWS are over. Yes, LBP will sell WAAAAYY more the MGS4 did and MGS4 is a MASTERPIECE.

LBP will do for gaming NOW, when Mario64 did then.

Watch.

Lord Vader6357d ago (Edited 6357d ago )

Uh, isn't viral marketing for LBP considered slightly "off-topic" on this thread ?

LOL...

On topic = WOW. Glad I've already played this kicka$$ game on 360. If you only have a PS3, I would highly encourage you to play the game anyway though, one of the best games this generation without a doubt, & the gameplay & story will still be there.

Tarasque6357d ago

Seriously, You can't even put LBP in the same breath as Mario 64. I understand you are a sony @#$% in all but, people have to draw a line somewhere and this is it.

And too the article this is a very good comparison, i have bioshock on the 360 and checked out the demo on ps3. And the 360 is far superior than the ps3's. I mean really this doesn't surprise anyone does it.

PirateThom6357d ago

But it shouldn't matter because of the gameplay, right XBox fans?

bouncybullet6357d ago

That comment could go both ways.

PirateThom6357d ago

It could, but it was more directed at that article on graphics/gameplay rather than at anyone.

Kuest6357d ago (Edited 6357d ago )

Incidentally, that's why I purchased the 360 version of Bioshock... to be honest, I didn't really have a choice!

I will say, however, that if one were to consider the graphical superiorty of PS3's Oblivion compared to the 360 version, than this especial reversal in graphic quality should evoke at least some confusion. Perhaps PS3's visual capacity depends on the game engine being used?

Specifically, the UE3 engine- as I recall- has never performed particularly well on Sony's black behemoth, or at least when compared with indvidually crafted, developer-produced ingines like Insomiac's or Guerrila's. Therefore, I would argue that PS3 requires more developer innovation than the 360, which can/should be percieved as both a plus and minus.

In this particular case, it is in fact a minus.

juuken6357d ago

You nailed them good Pirate Thom.
A bubble for you.

Rageanitus6357d ago

I have the pc version and imo the gameplay sucks but the graphics are quite decent. Not my cup of tea I guess.

jay36357d ago

lolwut?

I don't read all these comments, but from what I did read nobody said the game is bad on PS3 because it doesn't look as good (going by comments on that one, I can't really tell the difference).

And there's being praises handed out because one guy supposedly "nailed" a couple of Xbox 360 fanboys?

Lame.

cherrypie6356d ago

Interesting idea.

The reality is that the Xbox 360 has the best gameplay and graphics on BioShock.

So, what's your point about the Xbox 360? You dont make any sense.

Oner6356d ago (Edited 6356d ago )

Awesome. Pirate ~ Hits nail on head. Either way if the comparison ends up being true and not the PC version compared to the PS3 then I hope people do cancel their orders. This will show 2K (and others) that people will not stand for poor ports at the expense of (more like profit off of) it's customers.

Next ‘BioShock’ Game Changes Leaders After Development Turmoil

The fourth game in the ‘BioShock’ series has been in development for more than a decade

bloomberg.com
toxic-inferno211d ago

Bioshock is one of my favourites franchises. I love all 3 games and have played each several times. I even have a room in my house that is loosely decorated around the theme of Bioshock (with a Lighthouse, coral models and postcards styled as though they are from both Rapture and Columbus).

And yet I am going to find it extremely difficult to get even remotely excited about any future episode in the series after all the problems this has had in its development cycle.

Leave the franchise alone. Remaster them again if you have to. Then put whatever talent you have to use on something brand new.

Furesis211d ago

Since ken levine isn't involved i'm not surprised what's going on. i'm more excited for his next game which looks like bioshock. Yet he still works under take2 and they are making bioshock 4 without him, strange situation.

toxic-inferno211d ago

Yes. Judas. Looks brilliant, but it's one of those games that seems to never have had a release date. Instead it's had release windows that keep getting pushed back.

Once it's ready, I'll be there for it though. Ken Levine is an excellent developer.

I get the feeling he dissolved Irrational Games simply so that 2k couldn't tell him what to do. It seems it will pay off, but I feel sorry for those who worked as part of Irrational before it was dissolved, who hadn't independently made a name for themselves.

ActualWhiteMan211d ago

He didn’t even want to make 2, that’s why they did it without him.

Rebel_Scum211d ago

tbh it wouldnt be a Bioshock game without development hell. They all had it.

Michiel1989211d ago

bioshock 2 was 2.5 years after 1, so much of a development hell it was......

-Foxtrot211d ago

"Remaster them again if you have to"

Well apparently they were doing a remake but that got cancelled

Relientk77211d ago

It sucks this game is in development hell because I love BioShock and would love a 4th game. I hope it turns out great, but I guess we'll see.

P_Bomb211d ago

Love Bioshock. It’s too bad what’s going on. At least we have Judas.

Yui_Suzumiya210d ago (Edited 210d ago )

It's been in development hell since 2014. This is nothing new. It saddens me because it's one of my favorite series. At this point, Judas may end up releasing first.

BABI-PANGPANG210d ago

Bioshock 4 (if it ever comes out) will probably still look and play like a Bioshock game, but without Kevin, it might miss that spark that made the originals so special. Honestly, Judas might end up feeling more like the real spiritual successor.

It's 10 years too late for a BioShock film. The world of Rapture would have been perfect for a film. It's actually a good candidate for proper utilization of 3D, for increased depth rather than bullshit popping out of the screen. It could really show off the underwater city that way. But BioShock as a brand is so irrelevant these days that a film just doesn't make sense. Especially considering it would need a big budget and top notch effects to really take advantage of the IP.

gold_drake584d ago

i agree on the bigger budget. all the cgi they'd need for the background.

but i think it would work better as a show. a movie would be too short to establish the story
