Hollywood reminds us that stars are just like regular people. But what about game developers? Should there be similar reminders about them?

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."

Today, Koei Tecmo announced its financial results for the full fiscal year 2025, related to the period between April 2025 and March 2026.
With the absurd amount of anger directed at developers nowadays, it's good to see this opinion piece. Dev's get way too much crap for many things which are rarely directly their fault. Strongly opinionated children on the internet need to try and learn a thing or two about other people's positions and perspectives.
Yes, they are people and they go through struggles and successes like us, and we pay them when they do a great job on their games. But, they shouldn't get a pass if they release/advertise a poor game and expect us to pay $60 for it. I know some people can go overboard with their criticism, but maybe it's because it was the dream game they've been looking for but fell short on release because the devs didn't meet it from what was promised. Like every business, fulfill your fans/customers needs and they will pay you.
clams have feelings, too
Doesn't mean their work can't be critiqued harshly if needs be. Obviously shit like death threats etc is not on of course.
Yeah well, they're not immune to criticism. If a dev pulls a blatant anti-consumer practice out of the hat then I'll heavily criticize them.
