Cities: Skylines - Review (PS4) - Handsome Phantom

Handsome Phantom says... "Even starting a new city in a small area seems like an insurmountable task. The complexity of the controls and decisions at your behest seem unlearnable.

But these things don’t mean the game isn’t a ton of fun."

The best city builder on a console ever made. I got it on Xbox when it launched and it's great. There are some obvious limitations but it's great for what it is. Save often and you're good.

OffRoadKing3205d ago

Been thinking about getting this. Can you go down to like street level view and walk around or drive through the city?

letsa_go3205d ago

You can get down to street level views, but you can't walk around or drive. There is a mod for driving on the PC but it isn't very good.

letsa_go3205d ago

I agree, I have it on PC and it is one of my favorite games. Steams says I have played it 234 hours. lol A lot of that time though, I would just leave it running while I slept.

OffRoadKing3205d ago

Is there a steep learning curve, I'm worried it will put me off if its very complex and hard to figure out?

letsa_go3205d ago

@OffRoadKing No, I didn't think there was...at least if you are familiar with games like this. If you have played Simcity, Tropico, Rollercoaster Tycoon or anything like that...it will be pretty easy to pick up. The objective is to basically build your city while paying attention to what the citizens want and need. It starts getting complicated once your city gets big...you have to manage the cemeteries/crematoriums to pick up the waves of dead people, and also the garbage pickup, while fixing traffic hotspots. It will easily burn up hours of your time while you attempt to get things running smoothly. Now I want to play hahaha

@offroad

You will restart your city 15 times before you get the hang of it lol. You will learn something new and want to start from scratch. It's not overly complicated though, no.

letsa_go3205d ago

@opinionated The only time I had to keep restarting was on a snow level...that shit is hard! haha

@letsa
It took me awhile to figure out an infrastructure I wanted. After you waste 30k on street design and then want to try something else it's easier just to scrap it and do over. I'm a perfectionist tho lol

Cities: Skylines II Review - Boss Level Gamer

BLG writes, "Cities: Skylines II is a very worthy sequel to the popular 2015 city-building that improves upon the original. It could stand to use some quality-of-life updates, performance optimization, and mod support, but don't let that deter you from diving in."

What is the Difference Between Cities Skylines 1 and 2? Biggest Differences Explained

If you enjoyed the last entry and its myriad DLC packs, here's a closer look at the difference between Cities Skylines 1 and 2.

shinoff2183965d ago

The abundance of dlc is what keeps me from buying these games early , I'll pass. I will wait until a complete edition is available. Love these types of games though.

Terry_B964d ago

Well..that means you have to wait for probably 7 years..and even than its not sure there is a complete edition. Even now..8! years after the release of the first game..you have to pay 325€ for the game with all so far released dlc.

shinoff2183964d ago

I'm fine with that my backlog goes back to snes, your also missing base game is practically free and dlc goes on sale constantly. Cities skyline 1 alone with dlc can be had way way cheaper then what you stated.

JackBNimble964d ago

Well if you're a console owner you don't need to worry because it's been delayed until at least spring of 24 and they've refunded all console preorders. I was refunded even though I never asked for one which kind of makes me wonder if they can even get cities working properly on console's.

They've also upped the recommended specs for pc
