I know it's not completely a part of that lore, but I hate how dominant that property's influence is on MvC:I in terms of overall aesthetics, character models, & the exclusion of the longtime X-Men & Fantastic Four characters that have been a part of this series since its inception in 1994.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 in comparison had its own unique identity with its visuals, characters, & influences.

Not only that but MvC:I has the lowest amount of newcomers in the entire series. In fact on the Capcom side there's no new franchise being represented by a new character like it was always the case in the past.

It's not them being lazy, they are being cheap. They said it themselves in their last earnings statement that they were focusing on reducing expenses and I'd say this game is the outcome of such strategies. This game looks like some sort of cheap knockoff of the "Mahvel" the FGC has came to know and love. It might play like Mahvel but everything else is just so uninspired. The roster is obviously a big sticking point which people are quick to pass the blame to Marvel but ultimately even the Capcom side of the roster is pretty bad. With ultimate, there was at least 10 different characters I wanted to play around with based on aesthetics alone, in this, I can count just 3 which I'd reduce to 2 on the grounds that I don't want to play as a meth addict Dante.

I'm surprised people still trust Capcom, after that Street Fighter X Tekken fiasco, trying to hide 12 characters on the disc. Then tried to play the victim, after someone exposed them. Funny how Konami is on everyone's shit list, but not Capcom. They're the Japanese Ed, Edd, N Eddy.

I wouldn't say lazy, out of touch and confusing would apply more. This game, combined with SFV, their lack of Switch support currently, and treatment of their core franchises are all combined into a giant disappointment burger hot off the grill from Capcom.
