Gamers and gaming fans everywhere share something special and genuine in common with one another. It’s mind-boggling to think there are many who criticize others for how they choose to indulge in video games. No longer should we worry who is playing what, or who is on who’s side of the “console war”, but embrace the idea that we all share the striving need for fantastic freedom, no matter the mode of transport.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is getting cheaper but Call of Duty is leaving day-one access. Here’s what we think the price drop means for Xbox, PC Game Pass, and the future of the service.

Tech4Gamers writes: "A PlayStation Support assistant has confirmed that the 30-day timer implemented by the new DRM policy is part of an update and isn’t a bug. While responding to a fan’s query, PS support revealed that all games purchased digitally after March 2026 will be affected by this time limit.
If your PS4 or PS5 does not connect to the internet within 30 days, the game’s license will expire, and it won’t launch on the console unless the connection is restored. Hence, every digital game you purchase from now on will require an online check-in, or else you will lose ownership."
That is wild lol. Steam already does this for some games depending on the developer...but man...all digital games on ps5...
This has to be a mistake.
“Received word from an anonymous insider. The Sony DRM issue is unintentional. From what we gathered, Sony accidentally broke something while fixing an exploit. They've known about the confusing UI for a while, but didn't see it as urgent. Hoping for a clarifying statement now.”
The screenshot from the article is from an AI chat bot, there are plenty of screenshots floating around from actual human chat reps stating the opposite.
It this is real then I will never buy digital again and if the PS6 is digital only then it will be the first Playstation Console I wont buy
"Games will vanish" is click baity as hell...all you have to do is log in and the license is restored.
People have survived decades of console & handheld wars
The hatred and ignorance that a very small minority gamers have certainly has no place, but the console war serves a purpose just like competition in any field. It drives innovation and prevents companies from doing things the customers are against.
Suck it up buttercup
Competition drives the industry. Why innovate if there's no competition? Why drop prices? Why push for bigger and better things? Why bother improving anything? If there's no competition, companies have nothing to worry about. And I guess if we have just one system, that one system will be exactly to everyone's preference, right? Right...?
Competition is a good thing, even if it means I miss out on a couple games. If it matters that much to me I can just buy the system that has those games. No biggie.
The competition between the big three is fine. The issue lies the fanboys that parade around trying to demean every other platform that isn't their favorite.
If you like one platform over the others, then that's great. It's only natural to have preferences. But when you start trying to put down anyone else that isn't fond of the same system, that just makes you and unreasonable and rather dim person.
We need to remember that these are all for-profit companies. Take away the sugarcoated PR talk and you're left with the truth: they only want your money. Yes there are very passionate people in the industry that genuinely love video games and want to share their projects for the world to enjoy, but the big corporations still only care mainly about turning a profit.
So, it makes no sense to march around on sites like this one trying to defend your platform of choice. It's just a machine made by a company that doesn't care about you as a person, just about how much cash you're willing to hand over exclusively to them. I wish certain N4G users ESPECIALLY would realize this.
