Why the PS+ Membership Is Worth It

"The pros of the PS Plus service far outweigh the cons. When you look at it from a price and convenience standpoint, it is most definitely worth every penny."

10GB of online storage for game saves????

Cloud Saves are unlimited on Xbox One/360 that doesn't require a gold subscription to use, while you'll need a PlayStation Plus subscription to take advantage of the limited 10GB cloud saves

RommyReigns3203d ago

10GB is more than enough for cloud saves (unless you have more than about 12 games with save files like the WWE 2K series)

RommyReigns3203d ago

And most games don't have save files like the 1GB WWE2K series save sizes.

InKnight7s3203d ago

2 gb save cloud in first in ps3 was enough. 10gb is more than enough. In numbers 10 gb can hold from 2500 till 3500 saves files.
In theory if you need every single game you played in ps platform you cant get than 2000 games that all of on them scale of barely like - really addictive and love it and you need all save files for every single game of them.

Dark_Knightmare23203d ago

Yeah just like there's things plus does that Xbox live doesn't so quit being a fanboy and spamming the same comment in plus articles

rainslacker3203d ago

I have 150 games played on my profile, and I am not anywhere close to hitting my limit. Haven't gone through and cleaned out my save history across 3 different platforms which support this feature since it was enabled.

I think if the 10GB limit was a problem, we'd have seen a lot of complaining about it on Sony forums, but there isn't any.

andrewsquall3203d ago

Another great thing that happened because of PlayStation. Remember when you got NO cloud storage for your 10 years of Xbox Live Gold Subscription by the time 2011 came around lol?

Sonic_Vs_Mario3203d ago

Not really. Microsoft already announced it at E3 2011 that released on Xbox 360 on 6th June 2011. It takes some time to implement a feature.

look, everyone pays for online multiplayer. Anything on top of that is gravy. Sure, not every month has a stellar lineup of games being offered by the PS+ / GWG promotions. But can we really complain about getting any free games when we are only paying $5 a month?

freshslicepizza3203d ago

I don't pay to play online and yes you can complain about free games because they aren't free. Once you take away the option for consumers then it highlights that the service isn't good enough on its own.

Neonridr3203d ago

technically you do pay to play online. There is no free MP option. Only PC's give us that option, or Nintendo currently.

proofmaster3203d ago

I can agree with you that they are not free but getting a $60 game for $5 a month is a deal if you ask me.

freshslicepizza3203d ago

"I can agree with you that they are not free but getting a $60 game for $5 a month is a deal if you ask me."

What $60 game? They either offer indie titles or older games that have already lost their value.

@moldybread sorry, that was my bad. Tales from the Borderlands, my personal favorite, is now valued at about $30. And Just Cause 3 is $59.99. So again, sorry, missed that one by a cent.

freshslicepizza3203d ago (Edited 3203d ago )

@Why o why
"Go play some multiplats moldy..."

What does that have to do with the topic???

I bought Just Cause 3 months ago for about $20, you can now get the XL Edition for $21. It's almost 2 years old, why would anyone pay $60 for it now, console tax?

darthv723203d ago

I don't pay for PS+ which means i miss out on the multiplayer on PS4 but that doesnt bother me. I have been a gold member for close to 15 years so i buy all my multiplayer games on xbox. I was a + member for a year on the PS3 but i canceled. I just wasnt into the games they offered as part of the membership. I did dig the discounts though (which was the initial reason for + to begin with).

So my online multiplayer is relegated to just 3 out of 4 platforms. 360, xbo and PS3 (until sony kills off PS3 support). I have thought about getting + again..... maybe this year if a game really compels me to buy into it for multiplayer.

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen3203d ago

Moldy, why do you think Microsoft started Games with Gold? If you still haven't figured it out it was because of PlayStation Plus no matter how much you downplay the service.

ApocalypseShadow3203d ago

He can't help himself. Does he ever say anything about who was responsible for all this? NOPE. Only complains that free games aren't free "technically". And complains that a competing service by **ONE** 3rd party developer isn't allowed on the system. EA shouldn't get special privileges because they're bigger than other 3rd parties.

A lot of us said don't pay for it on Xbox years ago or it would spread over to other platforms and here we are. At least something is given back in the form of playing games you didn't have to buy. And get discounts too on digital games you do buy through Plus. Making the value more than the price.

freshslicepizza3203d ago (Edited 3203d ago )

@IGiveHugs2NakedWomen
"Moldy, why do you think Microsoft started Games with Gold? If you still haven't figured it out it was because of PlayStation Plus no matter how much you downplay the service."

and because of Sony and backlash they also removed things like Netflix being required to have a Gold account. But why are you now trying to ignore how Sony has turned what was once a good option to a mandatory service while acting like a dictator? Examples like not allowing its users to decide if they want EA Access or play wioth their friends on other consoles through crossplay?

That's the problem wiith so many here, even though Sony has done an amazing job with the PS4 they still have areas that need improving but for some strange reason a few of you are unable to act like a consumer and actually speak out when they are being anti-consumer.

"EA shouldn't get special privileges because they're bigger than other 3rd parties. "

Like I said many times before, it's impossible for you to ever act like a consumer. That's like saying it's a special privledge to allow HBO to subscribe to. Utter nonsense!

"A lot of us said don't pay for it on Xbox years ago or it would spread over to other platforms and here we are. At least something is given back in the form of playing games you didn't have to buy. Oh, you mean like what Electronic Arts provides with EA Access? Funny how you can support one situation and not the other but I guess you being such a loyal customer you feel obliged.

If you have to pay for something, it's not free. I wish people would stop saying that shit.

Neonridr3203d ago

however you want to look at it, $4-5 for online MP plus some "rental" games thrown in isn't a bad deal. There is still good value there.

yomfweeee3203d ago

It is just a marketing term literally used by tons of companies. Stop being so literally about it. I went to the zoo yesterday and parking was free to zoo members... I guess I should have started an argument with them "well technically that isn't free because I had to buy the membership".

No crap, we get it.

Dark_Knightmare23203d ago

The fact is you're paying for plus for online play privileges not the games so technically they are free.

Imalwaysright3203d ago

@ Neonridr

To you is a great deal. I have no desire whatsoever in renting games and I especially have no desire to give Sony, MS or Nintendo money to access servers for games that they do not provide or maintain: every 3rd party game. The reason why you don't pay money for online on PC is exactly because 3rd party publishers don't ask us money to access their servers so why should I give money to play games the big (greedy) 3 have nothing to do with?

psyxon3202d ago Show
Neonridr3202d ago

@psyxon - you aren't incorrect in what you are saying. Yes, technically the games aren't free. But having access to these games while you are paying for your online subscription isn't a bad thing. I mean it could have been worse, it could have just been paid online multiplayer and that's it.

No need to get all defensive about it.

psyxon3202d ago

I never said it was a bad thing.

What free games? Also paying for online is a rip off and to me extremely anti-consumer as it forces you to pay to play something you already paid for.

rainslacker3203d ago

I actually keep my sub for the IGC(although I've been wavering on that the past year), and the extra savings during sales.

MP was never really a consideration for my sub....and if that's all it had to offer, along with some other features which aren't that big of a deal to me, I probably wouldn't subscribe.

SilentSolid3202d ago (Edited 3202d ago )

@Dark_Knightmare2 Emm. No. You're paying for the whole subscription with all its features. Without it you can't access your games. http://imgur.com/gallery/eM...

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio23d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing23d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9223d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit23d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing23d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9223d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

To be fair, there are also human made games that release and lack any fun at all either.

jznrpg27d ago

But all of the great games have been made by humans

One is by choice, the other is a feature.

Guild Wars 2 been playing for 14yrs, 1st beta. This is just one company I support, Arenanet and NCSoft, even though I torrent, there are a few PC companies I will buy from. "PlayStation’s Horizon MMO spin-off, Horizon Steel Frontiers." I feel this will be good, NCSoft is a good developer/publisher.

CrimsonWing6926d ago

It’s a tool. Use it elevate things and get it done faster. I’m sorry but not every game made by humans is good. If this can help things, then I fully embrace it.
