Thee game looks like a ps4 xb1 level, its beautiful and probably first game to demonstrate what we can expect graphically from Switch at 30fps.

"Thee game looks like a ps4 xb1 level"

Ummmm ok.

I don't think so. I think this looks like what we would have seen from Wii U to be honest.

If you told me this was a Wii U game, I'd believe you.

I don't know bud, this legit looks like a Wii U title.

Shiken3207d ago

In terms of gameplay and visual appeal, it is on par with the other two consoles. However that does not mean that it is as demanding. Nintendo just happens to use styles that can look great and be less demanding in the process.

However you are right, the WiiU could be running this. Just like the WiiU could run most of the PS4 and X1 library during the first 2 years if they developed for it. Cause you know, most of the games were also on the 360 and PS3...which is weaker than the WiiU. Remember, just because it cannot run Uncharted style graphics does not mean it is weak. PS4 exclusives have devs that are in a league of their own. This is why I tell people the PS4 and Switch are the ultimate combo, as the X1 does nit have the same advantage.

Segata3207d ago

I don't think there are any Wii U games running on Snowdrop.

yellowgerbil3207d ago

It looks better than Xcom2 which was originally claimed to be too demanding even for the PS4 (they later changed their tune and released on consoles, but still looks worse than Mario+)
This game is what sold me on the Switch and am really looking forward to both it and Golf Story.

Wallstreet373207d ago (Edited 3207d ago )

Lol had to be you of course. Keeping that crusade alive Templar lol

We've been through this dozens of times, Nintendo and the devs that work with them often times use these cutsy, cartoony art styles which aren't graphically as taxing. No way this game graphically is close to or on par to a Horizon, Killzone, Uncharted, etc Consoles have all levels of games so if your talking about bottom tier graphically heck ps3 has some games that look as good as some ps4 games. So yes Switch will have some too :)

EddieNX 3207d ago

Nah this game looks good enough to be played on my xb1 all day. It looks current gen, not the best ever but good enough.

porkChop3208d ago

The game looks fantastic, probably due to the Snowdrop Engine. Everything has a sort of softness which looks really great. If I didn't know Ubisoft was involved, I'd figure Nintendo made it themselves.

Erik73573207d ago (Edited 3207d ago )

Really? Look at Mario model in that Ubisoft game then look at Mario model in Mario Oddesy.

Nintendo quality is way better than this .

Mario's hair and skin looks kinda like plastic in Ubisoft game

wonderfulmonkeyman3208d ago

Not a huge fan of strategy RPG's, but it does look like they've put a lot of effort into this one.

Erik73573208d ago (Edited 3207d ago )

It looks alright but nothing to special

I think compared to Nintendo games it's very mediocre in quality

wonderfulmonkeyman3207d ago

To be fair, I've only seen sections from the very beginning and from a mere 20 hours in.
It's better to judge it for its full quality, than from a mere couple of sections, so I'm holding my opinion to merely "It looks good" at this point.

EddieNX 3207d ago

all the previews have been very positive. And it looks high quality.

narsaku3207d ago

It looks kind of interesting, but it's still a shamefully lq merge of a fantastic ip with a horrible shitty one.

It's kinda sad that they just copied Xcom too. I expected more from professionals, especially with the first non Nintendo Mario game.

_-EDMIX-_3206d ago

"I think compared to Nintendo games it's very mediocre in quality"

???

Running on the Snowdrop engine, I'd say it looks like what we've seen from their past titles, only slightly better, I don't consider that "mediocre". Looking at the screens of the game, this is very, very high quality.

Granted, it looks like past Mario games, it also looks very sharp and solid. It legit looks as good as Mario odyssey in terms of quality. I don't know how much one mario can differ from the other. They both look fine.

@Wonder- Exactly. We've seen only a few parts in what could be a long, long rpg. The quality of it looks fine. Ubisoft has some solid teams and I think they would not do a RPG, unless they had a solid concept.

I've seen nothing in this game to give me any worry about its quality.

Solid developer, solid publisher, I just don't see much to worry about.

@Nar- I don't think they "copied xcom" as XCOM wasn't the first RPG every made. Many RPGs are made like what you see with XCOM...

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Soooo not sure if many of you are old enough to remember this series.

We've had small scale RTS, RPGs before. Heck ,Pikmin is basically that. You have a unit, you have an objective, you have abilities you can level up etc.

" first non Nintendo Mario game."

LOL

ummmm ok. No.

This isn't the first "non Nintendo Mario game". They've been outsourcing for YEARS buddy. You know not of what you are talking about.

Clearly. That is FACTUALLY wrong.

Love those type of RPGSs!

Looks very Xcom or FF Tactics. The Mario RPGs like Paper Mario and the Super Star Saga games have always been solid (besides the last 2 Paper Marios).

I want to see what Ubisoft can do for Mario and RPGs and if this turns out great, I'd like to see them make a Paper Mario.

This is right now my most anticipated Switch game that is confirmed.

Solid concept, solid team, over all a great idea and I hope it becomes a series.

Bronxs153207d ago

well it's definitely doesn't look complicated. evident by the uncomplicated games as well.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was one of the best Ubisoft games in the last decade. For such an overused property as Mario, it actually felt really fresh! (Or Rabbids for that matter... and i never really cared about the Rabids b4 that) Maybe I'm partial too bc tactical rpgs are one of my absolute favorite subgenres.
I believe it's bc Ubisoft put a lot of trust into this guy. He strikes me as very genuine and passionate. I was glad that this game wasn't overloaded w microtransactions, just some nice DLC and a strong focus on really nice, refined tactical gameplay. I really didn't expect the game to be that good! I'm glad he got out from under the clutches of Ubisoft b4 they run him into the ground too. But I'll definitely keep an eye on what he makes next!

For me, these Mario + Rabbids games were the best thing Ubisoft has developed in recent years. I'd hate to see Ubisoft drive the series into the ground like their other properties, so I think 2 games are enough. Maybe 1 more.

Inverno660d ago

They can't ruin it because Ninty will send their ninjas to destroy all traces of it. If not for that you can bet that spinoff series would've been milked dry by now.

XiNatsuDragnel660d ago

Good luck in your future endeavors

Hotpot660d ago

Thank you for Mario + Rabbids series, I quite enjoyed it

Einhander1972660d ago

Great games, I have wanted Sony to copy these games with their own mascots for years.

Michiel1989660d ago

not cinematic or 3rd person enough for Sony

DefaultComment660d ago

I think Nintendo has to hire this guy, I mean the fact that miuamoto himself said to him that he is impressed with this work, speaks volumes. Th possibility on having Mario on Soliani's hand could be incredible and quite possibly a new era for Mario games.

OtterX660d ago (Edited 660d ago )

Yea, these games didn't even feel Ubisoft at all. This felt very authentic Nintendo. This guy's direction is obviously stellar, and Ubisoft somehow managed to not kill it with microtransactions and repetitive, boring tasks.

porkChop657d ago

Nintendo would probably be the best home for him. Here's hoping.
