It's not just Europe, Sony will increase 12 months PS Plus subscription in UK from £40 to £50, Australia from $70 to $80, New Zealand to $90 and other continents lol

Found this in regards to the New Zealand prices
"Sony has announced that Playstation Plus subscriptions will be increasing in price for the European region, including Australia and New Zealand.
From August 31, New Zealand monthly prices will increase from $11.95 to $12.95, while quarterly prices will go from $32.95 to $39.95.
The annual subscription fee of $89.95 will remain unchanged.
These changes mimic the same increases seen last September in the American market."
So the biggest jump is in the quarterly price

also playstation increase from $50 usd to $60 usd in the US and $50 cad to $70 cad in Canada last year at the same 3rd quarter, guess they need more profit.

Sony probably figures if they aren't making as much profit in other areas they can charge more for PSN because the fanboys will still support them and think they can do no wrong.

freshslicepizza3211d ago

It's not really about fanboys, it's about the lack of choices. You have no other choice if you want to play online.

What areas exactly sir cause it sure isnt PlayStations those are selling quite well

Bronxs153211d ago

Didn't you see the latest Sony financial news? Their income is down, so I guess they need to recoup money somehow.

staticall3211d ago

It's not like Sony can stop making terrible movies that cost hundreds of millions of dollars, right? I mean, Playstation was one of the few divisions that actually got profits on that report, as far as i remember.

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
