Destiny 2 Beta: Constructive Criticism vs. Jumping to Conclusions

Tackling the absurdity of "This small part of an older build means the entire game is ruined!"

Exactly. Most of the articles I have read are going off based on just a beta that is from an older build without the core systems in place. People are just jumping the gun without even playing the game in a finished form. Even at the current time the actual game is very different from this beta as announced by Bungie. The beta is just for testing servers, matchmaking, connectivity, ammo economy, weapon balance and class balance so they can make adjustments for the full game. It does not represents the full game in any way.
In the full game we will not start with max levels and abilities. We will most likely not start with the new subclasses. We wont find exotics lying on a rack in the tower. There will be a leveling system, progression, loot drops, lost sector dungeon, sidequests, four worlds to explore instead of just Nessus, the full story campaign, the raid, several strikes, vendors, NPCs, 15 PvP maps, several exotic weapons/armor, various weapons, etc. etc. This beta is barely 2% of the actual game.

ya but there are aspects of the beta that will be in the full game, and some of those aspects are what people have an issue with.

Let me know how often you managed to use a sniper rifle on the boss in the strike. cuz i didnt get any ammo for it.

they are tailoring the game for PVP which is effecting the PVE players, and instead fo doing the smart thing and seperating the two, they decide to go gonads deep into the PVP and hope the PVE players just become accustomed to it like they/we did for Destiny 1.

Shin-Zantetsuken3257d ago (Edited 3257d ago )

Keep in mind that this beta does not represents the actual full game including the ammo economy and drop rates. I agree with you there that PvP is dictating how PvE will be played and it would be better if PvP nerfs/changes do not impact PvE. However, if you have been following Bungie updates and news then you will know that Bungie has already increased the PvE power ammo drop rates in the actual game. They are also implementing guaranteed power ammo drops from certain types of enemies. Probably the shielded yellow health bar enemies to keep a steady supply of power ammo for bosses. That was one of the objectives of this beta to see how ammo economy works in both PvE and PvP. It is working great in PvP but PvE needs a little buff and they are doing it so there is nothing to complain about.

Krysis3257d ago

Yeah you respond to his comment about this being an older build and to not judge the game by it with responding about sniper ammo when Bungie directly addressed this issue stating that this is an old build and has been fixed for the final release!

Shin-Zantetsuken3257d ago (Edited 3257d ago )

@krysis

You do not make sense... Have no idea what you said there. Yes, this is a much older build and the actual game in its current state has higher power ammo drops. It is just not reflected in the beta. They are using the beta to see how it works in the older state and if the changes they have made in the latest build are for the better or worse and if they they need to retain anything from the older build. Bungie has already announced that. The haters are just ignorant and have no idea what they are talking about.

jugo143257d ago

you really think so? The first destiny 1 beta said otherwise. If you really think this one will be diff, you are kidding yourself. Prepare for disappointment.

Krysis3257d ago

I enjoyed destiny 1 beta and the game. I liked this one as well. People still scream what garbage destiny 1 is/was from the rooftops yet millions still enjoy it. The same will be said for destiny 2. While the vocal nay sayers on the net scream garbage, millions will be playing and having fun.

Jinger3257d ago

Honestly if this was from an early build then the final product should be great. The graphics showcased in the Homecoming and Strike were more than just a little bump, especially showcased in the Homecoming mission. I was thoroughly impressed by the added scope and narrative just from this beta so I hope they keep that caliber throughout the story and have each Strike feel more like a raid as the one did in the beta.

343_Guilty_Spark3257d ago

I like PvE but the multiplayer is not fun imo

Ethereal3257d ago

Reading the responses to practically anything related to this game is making loose more and more faith in humanity. Even the simplest of concepts escapes people. A beta is a small portion of the game to test back-end support of a game, not to give you accurate depiction of the final product.

DivoJones3257d ago

Just keep your expectations in check, Bungie is exceptionally good at over-promising and under-delivering. People wanted raid matchmaking? We'll do 'guided raids'. People wanted changes to Crucible? We'll make it 4v4.

Wait for reviews, or Gamefly it and see if it's your cup of tea. You'll thank me later.

Honestly Thank Goodness!! Yet another good sign of a possibility of returning to what made them great and undoing Jim Tyans trend chasing love service gamble. Still gotta wait and see just what direction they're going but this is a good sign in my book that they're not betting it all on live service anymore

S2Killinit138d ago (Edited 138d ago )

Not sure what you lot are talking about anymore. They need to cover all range of games. Im primarily a single player gamer, but even I cannot be daft enough to ignore the fact that we need all manner of games including live service games. Everyone here seems to be a market expert.

isarai_lee138d ago (Edited 138d ago )

Yes "all manner" not just exclusively live service like Jim was doing, but you also shouldn't be forcing devs to make games they not only have no experience making, but also flatout dont want to do.

S2Killinit137d ago

Assuming that anything like that is actually the case and not just a perception of n4g commenters of course.

I don't understand why you people have to keep making up lies. You can say you don't like some or most of their focus being on live service games, but to say they were exclusively focusing on live service games is pure copium. At most half of their games were live service and the rest were single player games. Seriously why lie about something so obvious?

isarai_lee137d ago

@Redemption-64

You say that as if we don't have word directly from Jim Ryan and PlayStation stating they wanted at least 12 live service games released within a year. Followed by tons of official word of those Live Service games being cancelled after he was pushed out. All studios combined at the time PS had 15 studios, 12 is a hell of a lot more than half of 15, and it was definitely their primary focus evident by the fact that a huge portion of their studios have taken uncharacteristically long to release or announce anything since, hell some studios have yet to release anything this gen almost 6 YEARS LATER! The only one making stuff up is you.

It may take a while but maybe they are finally learning. Good! Now stop with the live service crap.

ABizzel1138d ago

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a live service here or there, but to have many of your studios start focusing on it when there has been little to no experience among them was wild.

Christopher138d ago (Edited 138d ago )

They say this and then immediately release news of the Horizons co-op game that will definitely be a Live Service game.

isarai_lee138d ago

I feel like they knew that given the fact that the very furst thing they say in the trailer is to reassure they still make so games 😆

Bet they're regrettings spending those billions pretty hard right now.

S2Killinit138d ago

Destiny has been a huge success.

Redemption-64137d ago

They will not. Destiny has been popular for over 10 years, something most games can never hope to achieve. Most people, including myself those Bungie was going to make a D3 after the final shape DLC. Marathon looks to be a hit and a D3 announcement could break records.
