It's still awesome without the patch.

Xaphy3229d ago

Is it a fun game? Only dlc or physical?

jjb19813229d ago

Digital Only. It's the best VR game I've played so far. I've pretty much played most psvr titles.

I look forward to it. It should be awesome in VR then.

It’s a VR game, and they are the devs…. Maybe they had good reasons to remove these scenes?

I dont know, i'm of two minds on this. On one hand it was really impactful, and added a lot to the weird brainwash underline theme of the narrative. But on the other hand, it's not the best scene for someone who might be struggling with depression and thoughts of suicide to suddenly, and surprisingly have a game require you to physically inact blowing your brains out. It can be shocking in the wrong way. Maybe pop a message up when you start asking if you want to exclude self harm scenes?

Their mindset is warped. I had to turn off auto updates to stop their update. They really think this will stop individuals with PTSD or mental illness. When all they have to do is notify gamers that the game has disturbing scenes and leave the toggle on. Instead, they want to erase my purchase that I can't refund. Things like this is why physical still trumps digital.

The funny thing is that it's perfectly okay to hit, stab, shoot and use your mind to make their heads explode. But virtually shooting yourself to arrive in the room with the headset, that doesn't actually harm you, is bad.

I'm tempted to review bomb the game on PS4. But it would be the only game I would have given a review. So instead, I just won't buy their games in the future. Super Hot VR will be the first and last game I buy from them.

I don't agree, yes it seems like the same thing, but as someone who has struggled off and on with severe anxiety and depression, i can definitely see how this can have a bad trigger with certain people. It just sorta hits too close when you're in the mindset, it's sorta like when a game does something that suddenly yanks you out of its immersion. It suddenly reminds you of a real world problem you went to the game to likely escape from. Yes i agree a notification at the beginning would help, but overall i think an option is a win/win for everyone.

I love games and keeping to the idea of maintaining creative integrity, but i wouldn't put it above innocent lives, and yes even something so simple can trigger a bad spiral, i've been there.

It was an impactful scene that had reasoning behind it. Just give a warning with the option to turn off. The option is already there, just give an alert when you start the game. I'm actually very disappointed in this move.
