Generally good article. I recommend reading it. But he does overstate the technical hassles of PCs vs consoles. The consoles that he explicitly covers (Xbox One, PS4) are both architecturally very similar to PCs, and have nearly as many interacting internal parts and software that can fail or misbehave. The difference is that the PC user is more likely to try to fix problems himself. The console user has very few options when it comes to DIY, and often ends up having to ship his system off for repairs. Neither is a particularly rosy picture, for the unlucky.

The only choice is get a console or not. PC everyone has.

PlayStation4 Pro, Switch and PC. OR... PlayStation4 Pro, Switch and Xbox One X. One of these two combinations and your sett for the best the industry can throw at you. Fanboys can sitt on a stick.

Which ever has the games you want to play. Which ever your friends play on. Which ever is most convenient for you (controller or m/kb). There are a lot of choices, and no wrong answers.

PS4, Switch, PC. I'm good to go.

PC gaming is great but I prefer console gaming. I don't have the time or energy between work, family, kids, cleaning, more work to put into the technical side of PC gaming and making sure the rig is up to date every 3 months. I prefer just being able to come home and turn on a system, know it's going to run the newest game, and play. I don't have anything against PC gaming though, I wish I could get more into it but other priorities come first.

Yep both, I use my PC for Steam and the Xbox play anywhere games and my PS4 for everything else.

All of them if you can. Feels good knowing whatever new title is announced is for a platform you own.

Get whichever you prefer really, if you can get them all.

Both, with a PS4 and PC I have access to almost every game. Even Nintendo games with emulation.

You can not choose PC gaming right now. Due to historic demands virtually all GPUs are sold out. Even the 1080 gtx are disappearing from inventory, the demands are so high that prices are increasing at 20% with both Nvidia and AMD earning record profits.

for about £250 with games a console is great. Although id never get rid of my PC and now ive got an xbox one sim happy with the trio TBH - for games and games only with no messing about a console is pretty hard to beat if thats all you care about.

if you want more functionality with better frame rates get a PC, but it wont be cheap!!! theres a somewhat fallacy that you can quickly scramble a PC for a few hundred quid you cant end off unless its all low end parts

PC for tech watching.

An hp laptop with 8 gigs of ram running i7 is 550 bucks and that's not even close to what a high end pc would cost (and it's still 50 bucks more than the one x)

PC for me but yes you do have to be a technical guru for it. The problem with consoles is they are becoming too much like a gaming PC that is no good for they are losing their ease of use, simplicity, and identity. Xbox game pass may be the answer to the future of consoles

It all depends on what YOU as a gamer wants with their gaming experience. If you can afford to game on PC & Console, there's the option to try both. But if you can only afford one, it depends on many factors.

What kind of PC can you afford?
Do you want to game with you friends?
Do you want to play in 4K with 60FPS ( referring to PC ) again, depends on the computer & all its bells & whistles etc....
Do you want the best exclusives? Subjective, although I personally believe Sony has the best exclusives.

Really, the list goes on & on & on. Either way, no matter what you choose, your not wrong for picking it. You game with whatever PC or Console you want. I prefer PS4. But I want all my fellow gamers to have awesome gaming experiences across all gaming platforms.

Its simple if you want to just simply play and not get involved in maintaining a device get a console. While PC might be more powerful there is still fudge factor involved sometimes that consoles just don't have but at the end of the day its a personal choice.

console no doubt, no issues, no jumping through hoops and none of dat, just turn on, plug in game and bingo. It works.

The one with the games worth playing... a console

Pc to emulate wiiu zelda and 3ds, play xbox games and steam + a ps4 pro to play the exclusives in 4k. Done

PC for better resolution and frame rate however stability of games is a huge issue for PC (at least for me personally) for every 10 games that work fine 1 does not mesh well with the specs.

Consoles on the other hand has far better stability for all its games but does not reach the level of performance on PC.

For me it wasn't a choice.

As soon as all games on consoles run at a minimum of 60fps, I will go exclusively to console. I play on PC more now simply because I want 60fps. Everyone else can enjoy the stutter and sputter of 30fps. Play a 60fps game for 30 minutes then go to one at 30fps, you will see the difference. I found that I had gamed so much at 30fps that I had become used to the stutter 30fps. The sputter was there but I ignored it. Not any more, the console market needs to come to terms with the fact that the days of subpar 30fps are over, until then buttery smooth 60fps on PC for me.....thank you very much.

Xbox live is a cool n competitive community

Personally i don't like playiing with K+M and it hated the tweaking to make the games run smooth - even if i had a pretty good gaming rig. So i sold my PC this year and went back to console gaming. Also .... the PC community was toxic as f**k vs. console players

There is no excuse to not get both if u live in a western country, I live in Tunisia (that's north of Africa, and yeah we have food, electricity and shoes). I have a gaming desktop PC and a gaming laptop, a Xbone and a PS4.
A month salary to buy one console, triple it for the PCs.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Wuchang is great. Nine Sols didn’t have a physical copy so I never played it but I’ve heard good things so I will check it out. I stopped playing sports games many years ago when before the card dlc’s or whatever they’re called.
