This is pointless. The phone usage does not require having it in your face. Now if the phone served as a map like the Gamepad, then this would make sense.

I don't think I will be bothering with online chat, too much of a kerfuffle.

The primary design is flawed, this controller is just trying to support this flaw. Nintendo can't get out of their own way to make a viable solution. At this point of advancement in electronics, using a cell phone to communicate over a game system is just stupid.

I remember when someone made these for Xbox one and PS4 because they thought the apps were gonna be a big deal thankfully they weren't I really hope this isn't going to be the future I will never understand this app thing if I'm out and I get lost or worse my switch can't save my life but my phone can

*edit* I'm not against apps like the Xbox and PlayStation apps that allow me to do console stuff while I'm out I'm against making the app mandatory

It's not solved, and it's not even a workaround.

Switch online service will suck and only a handful of idiots will actually use it. When I play games, I am not talking on my phone. When I talk on my phone, I am not playing games.

If Nintendo wanted to sell us online they would have built voice chat into the console. They didn't, so they do not and will not have an online service worth any amount of money per month. As it is, it's not even worth 5 cents a month because the service is non-existent.

I plan on getting a swtich, but I do so realizing it's an offline console. I have no problems with that. The NES, SNES, and N64 were all offline too and I loved them all.

What's funny is, I actually use my phone for Discord while I raid in FFXIV, even though I'm playing on PC. The reason is so that I can use a different connection to avoid eating up the bandwidth.
