Wave Race Would be Perfect on the Switch

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "A few days ago during an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo general manager Shinya Takahashi mentioned that Nintendo had not abandoned “realistic” style games when questioned about working on games like 1080 Snowboarding and Wave Race 64. A pretty standard comment by all accounts but one that got me thinking – what would a Wave Race game be like on the Nintendo Switch? Well pretty friggin’ awesome apparently, especially if these ideas (wild as they may be) make it into the game). So on this hot (at least where I’m sitting) day, lets head to the beach and remember what made Wace Race so great and why Nintendo needs to bring it back."

1080 snowboarding and wave race would be amazing on my switch. Man the N64 brought us some classic games. Top Gear, Goldenye, perfect dark, blast corps, Turok, Mario 64, Zelda both of them, smash brothers, Mario kart, Mario party, man I could keep going. Bring them all on, (I know rare would need to release on Xbox but still)

I'd even take a new Excitebike, just bring those franchises back dammit!

Wave Race was amazing. Bring it back please.

shockwave4life3240d ago

Yeah it would and a ton of other things but Nintendo is too stupid and stubborn to do anything remotely smart or good! There's a thousand things they should do but never will that's why the switch will fail and they will eventually fail as a company and become the new Sega! Too many bad decisions will add up and cost em in the long run mark my words!

I mean, releasing a new console with a good Zelda is what I'd call smart and/or good, even though the rest of the launch lineup was a boring meh at best

shockwave4life3240d ago

Breathe of the wild was made for the Wii U which they delayed almost 2 yrs just so they could make it a launch game for the switch & practically screwing every Wii U fan! I wouldn't call Nintendo smart for that

N64 Games That Actually Aged Well

Star Wars Rogue Squadron. That’s the list. You can all go home. I’m just kidding, of course. The N64 had a lot of unforgettable titles throughout its run.

Quest 64, while simple and short, would certainly fit on this list. So would a few others.

Lol Mario Kart 64. That's the perfect example of nostalgia blinding people from seeing how badly a game has aged. Great at the time, but the controls are abysmal now. People ripped on Double Dash at the time, but it aged much better. Unfortunately for people my age N64 is so attached to their childhood that any criticism of any game is taken like an insult to their family honor or something.

franwex1671d ago

I guess to each their own. But I still think Mario Kart 64 is good all these years later.

I still enjoy playing N64 games, the only ones that truly haven't aged well are the FPS games : Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. Although the Turok games have aged well as it uses a better control scheme (move with C buttons, aim with control stick)

Wave Race 64 is absolutely fantastic. Racing games are my jam, but I remember this game being really tough because the rough weather and strong waves were pushing my jet ski around slamming me into obstacles haha. I wish I had an N64 so I could replay it.

Duke Nukem 64 and Doom 64. Also the recently english translation of Shiren 2 looks and plays great

Try Riptide GP: Renegade - that's a pretty fun game.

Zjet2092d ago

I second this, Fantastic game made by an amazing indie studio, runs like butter too smooth as.

Riptide GP2 and GP Renegade are amazing games, also offer 4 player split-screen (6 player on Xbox One)

Made by the same team that made Hydro Thunder Hurricane.
