More competition is always good.

JaguarEvolved3252d ago (Edited 3252d ago )

If Atari makes a new console id buy it day one

MegamanXXX3250d ago

I'll buy it if it has enough support like the competitors

Omnislashver363250d ago

Told ya, it's the Okami Gamesphere with 20 PFLOPS performance, 6000 GB RAM and a 500TB SSD for $199 suck it Microsh!ts and Ponies. #AtariMasterRace

DrShoe3252d ago

lol, Atari almost killed the games industry once, I'm sure they're keen to finish the job this time round.

fenome3252d ago

The games industry is way bigger than they are this time. They almost killed themselves too, let's see if they can turn it back around.

@ricosuave

Landfill I believe.

fenome3252d ago

Interested to find out more about this. Hopefully it turns out to be more than just another "classic" edition console. Don't get me wrong, I loved my 2600 when I was a kid but I don't feel like revisiting Pong, Space Invaders or Pitfall anytime soon. Kind of wish I still had my copy of ET though, after all the turmoil around it.

Kokyu3250d ago

Its already been confirmed a nonflashback system.

fenome3250d ago

Trippy. I wonder what they're planning with it. It's going to be weird seeing an Atari console again. Have they said any more on it other than the teaser reveal?

Neonridr3252d ago

I mean.. an all in one Atari that could play 2600, 5200 and 7800 games. Hell throw in Jaguar support because... because I said so?? It's just so crazy it might work :P

I'd buy one for sure

FallenAngel19843252d ago

Atari is just hankering to go bankrupt again. They barely cut it as a third party, now they think they have a chance to be a hardware manufacturer again?

Hell even Sega has a better chance at reentering the hardware market.

And the franchises to boot

Sonic
Alex Kidd
Streets of Rage
Shinobi
Ristar
Golden Axe
Outrun
Fatal Labyrinth
Comix Zone
Kid Chameleon
Shenmue
Space Channel 5
Samba de Amigo
Phantasy Star

fenome3250d ago

I'd buy a new gen Sega console if they actually put their IPs to use.

It's crazy to think about some of the IPs all these companies hold that are just collecting dust. Every single one of them are sitting on goldmines.

Bronxs153249d ago

Imagine some money behind those ips with big triple a development. Some fun games.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio15d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing15d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9215d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit15d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing15d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9215d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
