Assassin's Creed Origins is the next game in the blockbuster franchise, set in ancient Egypt. We got a chance to play it first at E3. It's still only an early.

This is running on settings comparable to "high pc " for all the textures, lighting and AA etc.

But Ubisoft.... sigh..... not only is it Dynamic Resolution these guys...they checkerboarded it to 4K.

The guts were there but they didnt want to add that native 4K icing? Dang it.

tyasia03138d ago

The Xbox fans are downvoting you because you didn't say parity and blame it on Sony, c'mon you can damage control better than that.

KingKionic 3138d ago

You will never hear me say that.

But i know for sure this game can run at native 4K.

I think it was just a decision on there part during development.

The other versions are using a dynamic resolution.

Might be the issue.

"But i know for sure this game can run at native 4K. "

lol...no you don't.

I'm trying to figure out how Shadow of War can hit native 4K, yet this game can't. Then again, Shadow of War is an Xbox Play Anywhere title and utilizing UWP. AC:Origins isn't.

Razzer3138d ago

Varying levels of detail more than likely. The Shadow of War trailer looked like a game on lower settings to me. Looked rough.

Lennoxb633138d ago

Only thing on Shadow of War that looked rough was the skin textures. Everything is looked pretty good.

I've Been Replaying Assassin's Creed Origins, And It's Reminded Me What Shadows Is Sorely Lacking

It took going back to a much older game to realise just how empty Assassin's Creed Shadows feels.

"I've never thought feudal Japan would be a good Assassin's Creed setting. Give me 1960s southern England with mods and rockers."

Aaaaaaand that's where I stopped reading.

Terry_B235d ago

Never read anything on that website.

chicken_in_the_corn235d ago

I agree with the first part of their statement. Japan is so overused and it wasn't particularly interesting in Shadows. Now that it's been done, they can do something better.

isarai234d ago

Tf? Almost had an aneurysm at the thought of that concept, like what?

And shadows reminds me of something origins is lacking. Virtually every game is lacking something. It is because it is lacking, that it has what it isnt. Funny dichotomy that…

anast235d ago

Origins is a beautiful game made by talented people that got turned into a brutal level-gate fest by the CEOs.

PRIMORDUS235d ago

There are only a few Assassin's Creed games I played. Original, The Ezio Collection, and what I think is probably the best in the series Assassin's Creed Odyssey with the DLC. I'm done with the series, it's the same shit.

isarai234d ago (Edited 234d ago )

Same, enjoyed 1, looooved the ezio trilogy, and 4 was peak, everything after that just sucked. Unity was a great direction but the bugs and how long it took to fix killed it, best parkour system in the series tho

AC Origins is the last great Ubisoft game. Period. This game show how great the Ubisoft story writing once was. Also the meticulous research Ubisoft did in the field of Egyptology. Ubisoft was so pride of their research that it made a separate Touring mode just to showcase all of their study.

10 Video Game Sequels That Saved Their Franchise

Video game sequels like Assassin's Creed Origins, Doom (2016), and Fire Emblem Awakening were just what these franchises needed to be revitalized.

Immagaiden987d ago

Lmao what’s Halo Infinite doing on this list?

Who would ever say Halo Infinite saved the Halo franchise

SullysCigar986d ago

Thought the same - very bizarre!

RE7 though... my God, what a shift over RE6! That franchise was definitely going in the wrong direction, so RE7 was a welcome return to form.

ModsDoBetter986d ago

Resi 6 was and still is the worst entry in the series.
7 was a great turnaround, despite people’s concerned about the switch to FP perspective.

DMC5 definitely helped the franchise after the whole DmC debacle. Whilst it was a decent action game, it was a far cry from the series and the characters we knew.

AC Origins is my favourite in the entire AC series. Despite the switch to a more RPG style of gameplay - the setting, soundtrack, length, etc were all amazing. sadly followed up by the ridiculously long and “more of the same” Odsyssey.

I don’t feel it’s fair to say the franchise slipped with Doom 3, Doom 3 was incredibly atmospheric and took the game in a different direction but there’s no denying Doom (2016) was sensational.

Halo 4 & 5 were disappointing but Halo Infinite definitely didn’t save the franchise? What?

TheEnigma313986d ago (Edited 986d ago )

I'm going to have to go with SMB 3. I was around when SMB 2 first came out and people hated it. 3 is still arguably the best mario game created.

HellspawnPR1981986d ago

"Halo Infinite"? Worse Halo ever. Whoever made this list just lost all credibility.

Hofstaderman986d ago

In future lists of a similar nature I have a suspicion Final Fantasy XVI will feature.
