Fans if Atari and Sega will be thrilled to see new versions of the classic console return for a new generation of gamers.

Got the original system thanks:)

Garethvk3264d ago

Still holds up well after all this time I bet.

Imalwaysright3264d ago

You lucky bastard. I wish my Mega Drive still worked.

EnigmaSG13264d ago

That new Genesis Flashback does sound pretty neat with the features added.

ocelot073264d ago

They have been releasing these Megadrive consoles for years it's noting new. Wish they would do a Dreamcast or Sega Saturn flashback console.

ccgr3264d ago

Agreed on the Dreamcast!

gangsta_red3264d ago

Definitely agree, especially a Saturn which not too many people I knew had one...me included.

rainslacker3264d ago

Would love a Saturn rerelease. Have several DC working like a champ already, but my Saturn is pretty beat up. If they put in HDMI out and wireless controllers, and it'll play my Saturn games, then I'd be all over it. Probably would buy a DC if it had HDMI and could play my games. The NES classic, while cool, didn't actually play my games, so I had little reason to get one.

_LarZen_3264d ago

But no one cares to play old games. Or does that just count when it's PlayStation vs Xbox discussions? :D

yellowgerbil3264d ago

the option is great, but I'd take an exciting NEW game over being able to play my old games on my system anyday. If you want to play the old games, just buy an old system (just bought a dreamcast today, now am eyeing marvel vs capcom 2 if I can get it at a decent price). It makes little sense to me to be WOW I CAN PLAY MY 360 games on my X1... well then just plug in you 360

gangsta_red3264d ago

What if you don't have a 360? What if instead of plugging in a 360 or buying one you can just buy the game for cheap and automatically play it on your new console? I would take an new exciting game AND the option to play an old exciting game on my system any day.

"I would take an new exciting game AND the option to play an old exciting game on my system any day"
So would I but microsoft doesn't have any NEW exciting games, that's the problem. It is a one or the other a system about the future or one about the past

KwietStorm_BLM3264d ago

Honestly for me, playing games from decades ago is a lot more immediately appealing than games I was just playing less than a handful of years ago. Last generation games are still kind of fresh in my head.

XxINFERNUSxX3264d ago

I would just buy this to put on my shelf. Same with the NES mini ( could not find one ). I just use my Raspberry Pi 3 with tons and tons of roms and emulators. If the SNES mini does come out I will buy it but to display on my shelf :D

Tapani3264d ago

You do understand that you are pretty much admitting being quilty of breaking the law, right? Unless you just magically happen to have "tons and tons" of original games piled up at your home which you have legally ripped and copied on to your phone. Yeah, I thought so too, it is not the case, huh!

Your IP can be easily tracked. Wouldn't be surprised to receive a special letter home if you keep saying that. These letters are getting more and more commonplace, anyway. IPs are not a joke, and companies which own them create "revenue" streams through legal means everyday.

And no, it does not matter if you support the company in other ways.

You wouldn't download a car!

How much money do you think you're giving the developers by purchasing all those old games from eBay?

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing18d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9218d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit18d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing18d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9218d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
