That's because the director of GOW 2 wanted to change it for good reason. I watch and understand closely what Cory Barlog doing. It's about Kratos redemption. Here the shocker for you, I feel sympathy for Kratos since the first GOW game.

Even director himself admits that TLOU inspired him. We PS community aware the difference direction of this new GOW, but most of us appreciate the change. Even I know some people like you don't like it, but you need to get it with the time. Look what happened to Halo 5 and Gears 4, even they do stay the same like previous games, but it wasn't good enough.

Game is for fun,true. But gameplay can be more fun, more engaging and more enjoyable with strong narratives. I know you miss the old days, but you need to get it with the time.

The new God of War is not a God of War game, it's also not a step forward for the franchise in any sense of the word, it's the franchise abandoning what made itself what it is and copying the Naughty Dog formula, there's no point in sugarcoating it, that's what they're doing, there's not doubt that the new God of War looks visually amazing but if I'm being honest the gameplay looks like absolute shit, hack and slash games should not have an over-the-shoulder camera angle, it's just so wrong...

It's a soft reboot. This is new beginning of Kratos and God of War. So it's take place after GOW3. This isn't GOW 4. It's just a GOW. Like I said before, it's a soft reboot. Even the director of new GOW aka director of GOW 2 admitted that TLOU inspired him because he wanted it to change it from the beginning. Even the new soundtrack of this new GOW sound and feel like God of War in Norse. Like it or not, that how is it. "Sigh" You and @VideoGameLab need to get it with the time. Look at Halo 5 and Gears of War 4, those two games stay the same just like previous games but it wasn't good enough and didn't feel the same like original devs have created because those two games made by someone else who doesn't understand enough.

You think yourself always right. But you are not perfect. I do want the franchise to continue but it need to change one day. Otherwise, it will get stale sooner or later.
