Why you need to support games like Hellblade

Hellblade is fascinating, it's innovative and it aims to do something different. We discuss what Ninja Theory is attempting to achieve with Hellblade that sets it apart from other video games and why you support the developer.

Sillicur3277d ago

This game looks awesome and I agree, we should support a developer who does something like this!

thekhurg3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

I don't "need" to support any developer.

But I want to support this one right now because the game looks interesting. Still want to see a little more before I buy though.

_-EDMIX-_3276d ago

1000% Agreed.

I tired of this "you need to" No bruh. I buy what I want.

If they make a good game and I'm interested, its a buy for me, but "we" as a community don't need to do jack other then support what we like.

I don't buy crap simply just to "support", I buy because it looks good and I want it. I've very black and white when it comes to business, no emotions or feelings involved. It has no place in business.

Support it because you like it, looks fun etc, not based on something irrelevant to the game ie um..."emotions".

WickedLester3277d ago

I'll support it if it's a good game. If it's not, I won't.

Goldby3276d ago

how would you know without playing it?

Afterall, if any of the reviewers have a negative outlook towards mental health, they may see this game a massive SJW cry,

Where the people who do live with mental health issues will gravitate and generally appreicate this game more so.

It's 30 bucks, that is a coffee a day for a month, support indies to keep pushing this quality towards other indie companies

EatCrow3276d ago

Some people dont like certain genres. Some people dislike racers and sports games. I for one dont need to play a sports game to know if I wont like it.
By your standard I should buy every sports game that comes out to see if I like it...that makes no sense.

"It's 30 bucks, that is a coffee a day for a month, support indies to keep pushing this quality towards other indie companies "

Good graphics doesnt equal qaulity btw.

That being said I'll give this game a go on the platform I know will let me keep it for generations.

Goldby3276d ago

While i can understadn where you are coming from Crow.

sports games are only surface deep 9/10 times.

i never said anything about graphics, i have been following their developement even before the rebranding. the quality i'm talkign about is through their approach to the development, story and how they are tackling a subject that alot of devs would shy away from. the fact as well that Wellcome Trust has backed them and technically one of their staff for the game is a psychologist and they have many people who suffer from these ailments as consultants makes me trust that they are taking this as serious as it needs to be taken.

thekhurg3276d ago

If the game gets panned in reviews chances are it's not a good game.

People like you that say you have to buy everything to know if it's good or not are what publishers of shitty games want in the industry. Suckers.

I try to make informed purchases based on either past history of the developer/publisher or wait for reviews.

Goldby3276d ago

no i dont say buy everything. this is litterely the first time i saying buy it instead fo waiting for reviews.

Mental health is a touchy subject, and with all the BS goign around about SJW this , Anti SJW that. i dont want this game to be lost in the mess, so i'm saying dont go by the reviews for this game, support them not only for their game but their idea of creating a better platform for indie games, showing that idie games aren't just 2d side scrollers or 1 -2 hour experiences.

its supporting the noting of taking away not only the stigma for people with mental health issues but also the stigma of indie games. after all anyone who calls the playstation the indiestation is doign so to take a jab at the image of the Playstation.

WickedLester3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

"so i'm saying dont go by the reviews for this game, support them not only for their game but their idea of creating a better platform for indie games, showing that idie games aren't just 2d side scrollers or 1 -2 hour experiences."

@Goldby

And I'M saying if the game sucks, I'm not buying it. It's ridiculous to expect gamers to support a game that isn't any good just because it broaches a certain topic. I don't game for social/political reasons. I game for enjoyment.

CorndogBurglar3276d ago

But.....

Ypu literally just asked that guy how he would know if its any good without playing it.

That implies that one would need to actually play the game before knowing if they like it.

KickSpinFilter3276d ago

Average of reviews, out in the world play, word of mouth. Jesus sometimes ya gotta wonder...?

Bahamut3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

"How would you know without playing it?"

In this day and age, that's a really stupid question. Youtube and Metacritic.

"It's 30 bucks, that is coffee a day for a month..."

Some people feel $1 per coffee, every single day, would be a huge waste, so they buy their own (Folgers, Maxwell House) and save so much money. It's called shopping smart. Shopping S-Mart.

Nobody is really arguing the fact that this game looks sweet, but your stance/argument is stupid and has holes in it. Like the coffee thing, nobody is dumb enough to spend $1 on coffee every single day. I mean... right?

Goldby3276d ago

@Bahamut

how is my stance stupid? yes some people buy their own coffee (i'm one of those people) but there is also a line up at the local Star bucks, mcdonalds and tim hortons every single morning.

If you knew anything about how to sell, you would know that my analogy for coffee is a way to help some people understand how inexpensive a product really is. What seems more expensive, something that will cost you 350 dollars or something that costs you 1$ a day for a whole year?

let me know where my holes are in my argument where i break down how much a 30 dollar game would cost... this aint rocket science, just simple division.

Now that you are font trying to to upset my stance, do you have anything to bring to the conversation?

I know right.

If its good, sure I'll buy, but I'm not supporting jack JUST for the sake of it. This isn't a cult folks, this is business.

If its good and looks cool and fun, sure I'll buy, but those are only conditions I buy under.

Choc_Salties3276d ago

I'll give this a go! But dammit with the pre-order thingy. I don't want to...

DaGreatOne3276d ago

I'm really interested in the premise of this game and to possibly get 6 - 8 hours of game play for $30 feels like a steal.

GLITCHED_3276d ago

Agree, if they didn't keep the price low as they promised, then fair enough, wait for reviews or a sale, but so far, it's rally looking great and worthy of support.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice Review | What's It Like In 2024?

Admittedly, Hellblade: Senua's Saga is far from perfect and won't be a game for everyone, but now with a multitude of accessibility options it has made itself much more palatable for a wider audience, and with constant sale prices between $2-$4, Hellblade: Senua's Saga is too good to pass up for a unique experience that has stood the test of time and will do so once more with its even more robust and epic sequel.

The only thing epic about this “game” is how longnit took to make.

90sGamingWasBetter619d ago

The Hellblade games looked nice but they were essentially walking simulators with a minimal amount of combat tracked on.

willykyu291d ago

At long last, it’s about time they upgraded it !
I didn’t like hellblade 2 at all, which lost all its mystery and originality in this graphically superb but extremely boring sequel. But I loved the first one. And I was pretty annoyed it was stuck on ps4 version on ps5. Bugs and didn’t run that well.
Now I’m going to play it all over again !!! In its nicest version on PlayStation.
