Hori announced its new headset for Nintendo Switch, which uses a splitter to connect the headset to both a phone, as well as the Switch console itself. Shane from The Zero Review shares his thoughts on Nintendo's bold step into Switch online chat.

Development builds of several titles for the Nintendo Switch, including Splatoon 2 and Project Harmony, have reportedly been leaked.

o matter what the reasoning is behind Splatoon 3’s lack of content and substance in the first half of its paid expansion, Wave 1: Inkopolis is certainly not worth any fan’s money and should have always been viewed as a small bonus to tide fans off from what’s still to come.

A new version 5.5.1 update has just gone live for Splatoon 2.
I agree, hopefully this is more because of Hori's poor choice in design and not necessity, the Switch console does have a microphone in it, so perhaps this was only made to show off the ability to chat using the app, instead of showing the NEED for it.
Would be nice if the switch supported wireless/Bluetooth audio
would you buy a roadmap from a company where only blind men are working? for the same reason i stopped buying nintendo products. nintendo's digital and physical literacy is a shame. good thing for them they are ignoring everything. otherwise they might be too embarrassed of themselves to move on.
Yet another example of the poor design of the Switch, Nintendo forgot to incorporate the features necessary for voice chat. They really need to fire the entire hardware design team, these people have no idea how to design good gaming hardware.
This really doesn't effect me cause i don't speak online and non of my friends like gaming that much now a days but not having normal voice chat is so dumb i really don't get why they are using an app unless it to dicourage people from using voice chat in which case they nailed it /s
